Egypt has played 11 games in the 2017-18 season, 5 of which have been this year, where they have been less than impressive. In March they went down 2-1 to Portugal in a good display, before losing 1-0 to Greece four days later. They then drew 1 all with Kuwait last month before being held to a scoreless draw with Colombia and then losing 3-0 to Belgium in warm up games for the World Cup over the last fortnight.

Uruguay have also made it to the knockout stages in 10 of 13 attempts including Brazil 2014 and South Africa 2010. Uruguay finished second behind Brazil in qualification in a campaign that included wins over Argentina and Colombia. Egypt will need something special from Salah to grab a point and if he is ruled out they are unlikely to pick up a single point.
