As is expected many of the big servers have survived the early rounds. Tommy Haas will look to build on his win over Federer while Berdych and Lopez clash in the match of the day. The Wolf is expecting several surprises…
Tomas Berdych v Feliciano Lopez
These two have had some epic battles in the past with 6 wins a piece in their 12 meetings. Berdych has come out on top in the last two but it is Lopez who was the victor in their only encounter on grass. Surprisingly just 1 of their last 8 meetings has gone to a 3rd and deciding set. With both men being such dominant servers once they are able to get on top it is fair to say that their opponents spirit is broken. It is also a shock that only 4 of the 29 sets contested have been decided via tiebreakers. The Wolf loves the value on offer for Lopez.
Best Bet: Sets Lopez 2-0 ($4.80)
Tommy Haas v Mischa Zverev
He may be 39 but Tommy Haas gave the German faithful more than plenty to sing about. Down a set and a break against Federer, he saved match point before coming back to win in an epic. He picked his spots with his serve and used great variation from the backhand wing. He face a different prospect in the quarters with Mischa a left handed who will serve and volley as often as possible. The Wolf says this will favour Haas as the points will be short and he will be presented with the opportunity to hit passing shots. We will see both men hold serve with ease and The Wolf is expecting three very tight sets.
Best Bet: Over 23.5 games ($2.00)
|Berdych v Lopez||Sets Lopez 2-0 ($4.80)|
|Kohlschreiber v Pouille||1st Set Correct Score 7-6 ($4.00)|
|Haas v M.Zverev||Over 23.5 games ($2.00)|
|Paire v Janowicz||Janowicz WIN ($1.80)|
Julien Benneteau v Alexander Zverev
The Wolf cannot get enough of Alexander Zverev! He has made it no secret that he believes he is a future world number 1 and if he can improve his net game he will go well on his way to becoming the complete package. His ground-strokes are the perfect combination of power and depth – a lethal combination on this surface. In addition he can go down the line from both wings with consummate ease. He beat Benneteau in straight sets last year and will be doing the same thing this evening.
Best Bet: Sets Zverev 2-0 ($1.40)
Marin Cilic v Vasek Posposil
When Cilic is making in excess of 65% of 1st serves he is almost impossible to beat on this surface. He will win close to 90% of those points and that gives Posposil a tiny window of opportunity. The Canadian was down a break in the opening set of his previous match against Dolgopolov with the Ukranian failing to serve it out. Posposil would win the breaker before Dolgopolov would be forced to retire with a ankle injury. The Wolf can see Cilic winning in excess of 35% of return points and that will score him multiple breaks of serve. Cilic to win and cover the handicap with ease.
Best Bet: Cilic -3.5 ($1.85)
|Bedene v Muller||1st Set Scorecast Muller 7-6 ($6.50)|
|Karlovic v Medvedev||Over 25.5 games ($1.73)|
|Benneteau v A.Zverev||Sets Zverev 2-0 ($1.40)|
|Cilic v Posposil||Cilic -3.5 ($1.85)|
