ATP Geneva/Lyon: Semi Finals

best tennis odds

The Wolf went 3-1 with his quarter finals feature previews and correctly predicted the struggles of both Nishikori and Wawrinka. Both men came from a set down to win their respective matches but he has them coasting into the final of Geneva tonight. In Lyon, all eyes will be on the clash between Raonic and Berdych. The Canadian holds a dominant record against the birdman but Wolfy says the price on offer for Berdych makes the upset very attractive. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for The Wolf’s French Open preview with the draw to be held on Friday night 8pm AEST.

Feature Previews

Milos Raonic v Tomas Berdych
The Wolf was surprised to see that Raonic has won 5 of the 7 meetings. In addition, one of those defeats was a retirement. Berdych has had huge problems reading and returning the Raonic serve and it clearly the case in Rome last week. Not only was Berdych unable to break serve, he was unable to generate a single break point opportunity. Raonic won 96% of 1st serve points and 75% of 2nd serve points. It is impossible to ignore those numbers and as a result The Wolf is pushing the chips in on Raonic despite the value on offer for Berdych.
Best Bet: Raonic WIN ($1.50)
Value: Sets Raonic 2-0 ($2.15)

Nikoloz Basilashvili v Jo-Wilfried Tsonga
Tsonga may have finally broken the shackles. The Frenchman has been struggling since winning Marseille back in Frebruary but his forehand was back to it’s best against Khachanov. He was spraying winners from all angles of the court. He ustilised a very effective tactic going in behind his opponent with the first forehand before opening up the court and crushing an inside-out forehand winner. He will try to use these tactics against Basilashvili but The Wolf says he will not have as much success. The Wolf has likened the game of the Georgian to former top 10 main stayer Nicolay Davydenko. You will be hard pressed to find someone as consistent off both wings from the baseline and he is a great mover. He does lack the power to dominate but will no doubt keep this one close. The Wolf has him taking a set making Basilashvili with the handicap a great bet.
Best Bet: Basilashvili +4.5 ($1.91)
Value: Sets Tsonga 2-1 ($3.90)

Feature Previews

Mischa Zverev v Kei Nishikori
Can anyone stop the Zverev brothers… Last week Alexander won the Rome Masters and this week it is the turn of older brother Mischa to make some noise. He has come all the way through the qualifiers and posted back to back wins over big serving Americans – Isner and Johnson. He face a very different opponent tonight in Nishikori who does not have a weakness that he can attack. Johnson was caught far too deep and it allowed Zverev to close in on the net. The Wolf cannot see this happening often enough against Nishikori – especially with the world number 7 able to hit passing shot winners off both wings. Nishikori beat Muller (a lefty with a similar style of game) 6-2 6-2 earlier this year and we could see a similar scoreline. Zverev’s run has come to an end.
Best Bet: Nishikori -4.5 ($1.85)
Value: 2nd Set Player Games – Zverev 2 or less ($3.60)

Stan Wawrinka v Andrey Kuznetsov
The pair have met twice with a win a piece but both of those cam on hard courts – a surface that Kuzvetsov’s game is better suited to. The Russian is a very flat ball hitter and his standard rally shot will be right in the Wawrinka sweet spot. Stan started slow against Querrey but once he found his groove he was close to unstoppable. The Wolf still loves his as his value pick for the French next week and says he will continue to improve over the next 10 days. His game will be right where it needs to be come the second week of Roland Garros.
Best Bet: Wawrinka -3.5 ($1.85)
Value: Sets Wawrinka 2-0 ($2.05)
