Cilic and Dimitrov were the latest to confirm their spots in the ATP Tour Finals but there are still two spots up for grabs. Goffin, Del Potro and Carreno-Busta are among the men in action this week who can help their chances with a good result.
ATP Basel Feature Preview
Joao Sousa v Juan Martin Del Potro
Del Potro made it back to back titles in Stockholm last week and it came after semi final appearance at the US Open and Shanghai Masters. His game is really coming together and he is growing in confidence. The telling sign is the fact that he is starting to hit through his backhand meaning opponents no longer have a safety play when facing him. Del Potro is a man on a mission at the moment and the one player no one wants to face at the moment!
Best Bet: Del Potro -4.5 ($1.80)
David Goffin v Hyeon Chung
After claiming back to back titles in Shenzhen and Tokyo Goffin failed to make an impression in Shanghai and Antwerp. The Wolf expects a real bounce back form him this week though, especially with a spot at the Tour Finals up for grabs. That being said he will have to contend with a tricky opponent. Chung beat Goffin in straight sets earlier this season in Montreal and some of his other scalps this season include Monfils, Querrey, Bautista-Agut and Alexander Zverev. This shapes as a real baseline duel and The Wolf can see it going right down to the wire.
Best Bet: Over 22.5 games ($1.80)
|Fucsovic v Donaldson||Donaldson WIN ($1.95)|
|Bemelmans v Mannarino||Under 22.5 games ($1.73)|
|Bautista-Agut v Harrison||Harrison +3.5 ($2.05)|
|Coric v Laaksonen||Laaksonen WIN ($2.00)|
|Young v Benneteau||Young WIN ($2.20)|
|Haase v Sock||Over 22.5 games ($1.73)|
|Sousa v Del Potro||Del Potro -4.5 ($1.80)|
|Goffin v Chung||Over 22.5 games ($1.80)|
ATP Vienna Feature Preview
Diego Schwartzman v Fabio Fognini
Schwartzman is one of the hottest players on tour and he continues his climb in the rankings. He made the final in Antwerp last week and has shown that he is more than just a clay courter. The Wolf has continuously raved on about his ability to break serve and the fact that he leads the ATP Tour in points won in return games. Fognini wins just 71% of service games and that leaves the door open for the Argentine to capitalise. He is also one of the more inconsistent players on tour and we he starts missing he really loses his way. Schwartzman whose serve is a weakness wins the same amount of service games but with one glaring difference – he wins 42% of return points. Schwartzman!
Best Bet: Schwartzman WIN ($1.73)
Alexander Zverev v Gilles Simon
It has been a season to forget for former world number 10 Gilles Simon but he is finding his feet late in the season. He was ultra competitive last week in Shanghai and posted a comfortable win over Gulbis in his opening match. Zverev on the other hand ran into some trouble with Troicki but prevailed in the deciding set. The pair had 3 clashes last season with the German winning all of them but two of them were very tightly contested – with the winner determined by a final set breaker. We know the Frenchman enjoys the fast indoor surfaces so we will be on the Overs as a result.
Best Bet: Over 21.5 games ($1.73)
|Herbert v Kohlschreiber||Kohlschreiber -2.5 ($1.73)|
|Schwartzman v Fognini||Schwartzman WIN ($1.73)|
|Dzumhur v Berankis||Dzumhur WIN ($1.50)|
|Khachanov v Tsonga||Sets Tsonga 2-0 ($1.85)|
|Zverev v Simon||Over 21.5 games ($1.73)|
