The Wolf’s Sporting Guide

The Wolf’s Sporting Guide – May 4

It’s another busy weekend in the sporting world! The Wolf has previews & recommended bets for NRL, AFL, A-League, EPL, NBA, and MLB.

Wolf’s Best

AFL: Essendon v Hawthorn – (Sat 2:10pm)
The Wolf isn’t expecting a whole lot from Essendon in this one, and has one market in particular picked out for followers. The Bombers have been horrendous in 3rd quarters this season, losing all 6 with a percentage of 46%. On the flip side- Hawthorn have run rampant, scoring 49 more points than their opponents for a percentage of 156%. The -1.5 line (at $1.87) looks to be money for jam if things pan out as expected at the ‘G on Saturday afternoon. Five-chip special.
Best: 3rd Quarter- Hawthorn -1.5 ($1.87)

A-League: Newcastle v Melbourne Victory – (Sat 7:50pm)
Both sides showed great resilience to come back after conceding first last week but they can not afford a slow start in the Grand Final. This shapes as a real clash of styles with the Victory well known for their structured play while the Jets possess the most free flowing attack in the A-League.  For the Jets it is all about the counter. That is how Ernier Merrick has built this attack and he deserves endless praise for the turnaround. There is no doubt that the Victory will look to work their way into the match but The Wolf says that the Jets will flood forward on the counter at every opportunity. It makes for an entertaining battle and there will no doubt be goals, goals and more goals. The home team has claimed the honours in 6 of the last 7 Grand Finals with the Over going 5-2 in that stretch.
Best: Over 2.5 goals ($1.70)

NRL: New Zealand v Wests – (Sat 5:30pm)
The Warriors were hammered by the Storm on ANZAC Day and will be looking to bounce back when they host the Tigers in Auckland on Saturday night. The cause will be helped by the return of key troops in Shaun Johnson, Tohu Harris and Solomone Kata. The Tigers have lost three matches this season by a combined margin of six points and could be on the end of another heart-breaking loss in Auckland. Back the Warriors to win by 1-12 points.
Best: New Zealand 1-12 ($3)

EPL: Chelsea v Liverpool – (Mon 1:30am)
It may not have been pretty but Liverpool made their way into the Champions League final. They now have 3 weeks to prepare for the match and The Wolf expects Klopp to continue what he has done over the last two months – rest his key players sparingly and only one at a time. There is no doubt that they will have spent the last two days celebrating and The Wolf has question marks over how committed they will be to winning this game. They are 6 points clear of Chelsea and host Brighton in their final game of the season. A draw would all but end Chelsea’s chase for a top 4 finish which should lead to this one being far more open that expected. Both teams have found the back of the net in the last 6 meetings with the Reds undefeated against Chelsea in that stretch. The Blues have won their last 4 across all competitions but The Wolf cannot see them holding off a Liverpool attack that has been unstoppable.
Best: Chelsea v Liverpool – Both Teams To Score – YES ($1.60)

Wolf’s Bolter

EPL: Manchester City v Huddersfield – (Sun 10:30pm)
We have been riding Man City over the last few weeks and have been rewarded. The Wolf was expecting them to close out the season with some impressive performances and they have done exactly that – 3 consecutive wins and 12 goals scored. Everyone is getting in on the act with 8 different scorers in that stretch! Huddersfield have failed to score in 5 of their last 7 and that spells danger for a club that is desperate to stay in the top flight. They may need help from the other teams with matches against London giants Chelsea and Arsenal to close out the season. Huddersfield will be praying that West Brom, Stoke and Southampton don’t collect any more points.
Value: Man City Over 4.5 goals ($3.75)

Wolf’s Multi

Combined Odds: $7.29
NRL: New Zealand | AFL: Hawthorn 25+ | A-League: Over 2.5 goals
