Europa League Semi Final Previews

Ajax v Lyon – (Thur 2:45am)
Both sides were involved in dramatic quarter final clashes. Lyon won a dramatic penalty shootout while Ajax came back from a goal down in extra time despite being relegated to 10 men. The Dutch side will be without Veltman and Viergever as a result of suspension and The Wolf says they will have trouble replacing them. There is no questioning their home record in this competition which reads 6 consecutive wins but Schalke were able to get both through and in behind them on multiple occasions in the 2nd leg of their quarter final tie. With two of their regular defenders now also absent, dealing with a Lyon attack that includes Lacazette and Valbuena will not be easy. Klassen, Kluivert and Younes have been in fine form so there will be no issue finding the back of the next but the defensive changes will the streak of 4 clean sheets at home in the Eueopa League will come to an end. The Over is 6-0 in Lyon’s last 6 in this competition and The Wolf has them getting at least one crucial away goal.

Celta Vigo v Man Utd – (Fri 5:05am)
Another poor result at home in the EPL has put more pressure on Manchester United to win this competition. Despite a 25 game unbeaten run in the Premier League the Red Devils still sit outside the top 4 and with fixtures against Arsenal and Tottenham to come (both away) The Wolf is sticking to his guns that they will not finish in the top 4. Mourinho will be well aware of this and will take his battered and bruised squad with him to Spain in desperate need of a result. Shaw, Ibrahimovic, Rojo, Smalling and Jones are all unavailable meaning we are likely to see Blind and Darmian in central defence – neither specialists in this position. Mourinho will counter this by playing Herrera and Fellaini as deep double holding midfielders with Pogba also unlikely to venture forward as often as we are used to seeing. United will set up very compact at the back and play strictly on the counter making the Unders a red hot special. The Under is 12-2 in their last 14 across all competitions and they have conceded more than one goal in just 1 of their last 18 away matches – again across all competitions. Mourinho was happy was draws away to Anderlecht and Rostov in the earlier knockout round and this one will be played out in similar fashion. Unders and draw.
