The final round of the Premier League season has historically been full of excitement – generally because a single goal has been worth millions. In the past we have seen the title decided with the final kick of the ball and the same can be said about relegation and survival. That will not be the case this year. Man City wrapped up the title weeks ago while Swansea, West Brom and Stoke are already confirmed to drop. Liverpool need only a draw to confirm a top 4 finish and that is about it. With little on the line, The Wolf is expecting teams to really go out and enjoy themselves. It means goals galore!
EPL Gameweek 38 Preview and Tips
EPL Feature Previews
Liverpool v Brighton – (Mon 12:00am)
The next fortnight will determine if Liverpool’s season has been a success or failure. On one side of the spectrum, they could win the Champions League with Klopp and co to go down in Reds folklore. On the other hand… they could go down in a shocking loss at home to Brighton, allowing Chelsea to leap-frog them, and lose to Real Madrid in the UCL final. It would mean no trophy, and no Champions League next season – DISASTER. The Wolf says that step one of the process will be completed this weekend. They need only a point to secure a top 4 finish and it will come easily. Brighton are already celebrating. They have confirmed their place in the top flight next season, as have fellow promoted sides Huddersfield and Newcastle. This one will be all about the Liverpool fairy tale. Salah will break the goal scoring record and the Reds will celebrate in style!
Best: Liverpool WIN Both Halves ($1.90)
Value: Liverpool Over 3.5 goals ($2.90)
Man Utd v Watford – (Mon 12:00am)
Mourinho’s have locked in a second place finish but right now, it is all about the FA Cup final for them. The ‘special one’ again rotated his playing roster for the midweek trip to West Ham and will likely rest several key players for the clash at Wembley with Chelsea. It makes for a less than thrilling encounter with Watford – a side that has failed to score in it’s last 7 away EPL games. The Under is 4-1 in Man Utd’s last 5 league games and it has been 10 home games since they scored more than twice at home. The Wolf is expecting a workmanlike performance. 2-0 to the hosts.
Best: Under 2.5 goals ($2.50)
Value: Correct Score Man Utd 2-0 ($7.50)
Newcastle v Chelsea – (Mon 12:00am)
With a top 4 finish on the line, Chelsea laid an egg at home to Huddersfield. A 1-1 draw was a disgraceful result with Conte electing to start Hazard on the bench. It now means that Chelsea would need Liverpool to lose at home if they are to stand any chance of Champions League qualification. the Wolf says that will not be happening, and the harsh reality is that they do not deserve it. Conte has showed no imagination this season – regularly playing defensive lineups at home to sides at the bottom of the ladder. Newcastle are undefeated in their last 4 EPL clashes at home to Chelsea (3 wins and a draw). The Magpies have scored multiple goals in each of those four matches and The Wolf is shocked to see the price on offer for them.
Best: Double Chance Newcastle or Draw ($2.25)
Value: Newcastle WIN ($6.00)
Southampton v Man City – (Mon 12:00am)
Both sides have reason to celebrate. City’s record season has seen them crowned Premier League champions while for the Saints, 7 points from a possible 9 has seen them secure a spot in the top flight for next season. The Wolf is expecting to see a very open encounter as a result. Both teams have scored in 11 of the last 14 meetings with at least 4 goals in 6 of those matches. City have scored 3 or more in 4 of their last 5 league games while the Saints have scored multiple goals in each of their last two at St Mary’s Stadium. De Bruyne was rested midweek for and The Wolf expects him to come out and put on a clinic in the final game of the season. This one will be entertaining to say the least.
Best: Over 3.5 goals ($2.30)
Value: Over 4.5 goals ($4.00)
Tottenham v Leicester – (Mon 12:00am)
The Foxes have really switched off over the last month with just the 1 win in their last 6 matches. They were given a help in hand on that occasion, with Arsenal relegated to 10 men for most of the match. The same can be said about Spurs who will again finish the season without any silverware. They will be keen to finish on a high note which would help secure a 3rd place finish in the league. Leicester’s counter attacking style has given Spurs some trouble in recent seasons. The London club have won just 2 of the last 7 meetings across all competitions. It doesn’t stop there either. Leicester have found the back of the net in 16 of their last 17 against Tottenham including straight away from home. In what could be Mahrez last appearance for Leicester, the Wolf says he will be eager to see his stocks rise even further for a summer transfer.
Best: Both Teams To Score – YES ($1.61)
Value: Leicester Over 1.5 goals ($3.80)
