What a very interesting week of Premier League action we have… The league leaders can clinch the title in the Manchester Derby but The Wolf says that Pep could sacrifice his starters for their Champions League return leg with Liverpool. We will have to keep a close eye on the team lists throughout the weekend!
EPL Gameweek 33 Preview and Tips
EPL Feature Previews
Everton v Liverpool – (Sat 9:30pm)
The Merseyside Derby has 230 games of history but is is Liverpool who has dominated in recent years. The Reds are undefeated in their last 16 clashes with their neighbours which includes victories in 4 of the last 5. Liverpool are coming off their best performance of the season, a 3-0 demolition of Man City in the 1st leg of their UCL quarter final tie. With the return leg in a matter of days and an injury cloud over Salah, we could see Klopp opt to rest most of his key men. They are 10 points clear of 5th place Chelsea, meaning a top 4 finish is all but secured. This may be the most important derby of the season for Liverpool but the priorities have to lie in the Champions League. We could see Firmino spearhead the attack after he was given a early mark against City with Solanke his likely partner. Moreno and Clyne provide additional options in defence while Wijnaldum could be held out with Henderson suspended for the 2nd leg. The Under is 3-0 in the last 3 meetings at Goodison Park with a total of just 3 goals across those matches. With Liverpool having one eye on a clash with Man City, the Toffees look good value at home.
Best: Under 2.5 goals ($2.00)
Value: Draw ($3.60)
Stoke v Tottenham – (Sun 12:00am)
The light at the end of the tunnel is getting smaller by the week for Stoke. With only 4 points from their last 8 games the hole is getting deeper. They will not be helped by Spurs who have won their last 5 league games, a run that includes wins over Arsenal and Chelsea. Dele Alli and Son have been incredible in the absence of Harry Kane with Eriksen pulling the strings like always. Historically Stoke have been extremely strong defensively, but that has not been the case this season. They have conceded a league worst 61 goals and have conceded multiple goals in each of their last three outings. It is all or nothing for Stoke and it is that mentality which will see them caught out by a Spurs side that are very effective on the counter. Pochettino’s side have conceded in 4 of their last 5 away games but that will not stop them form claiming a comfortable win.
Best: Over 2.5 goals & Tottenham WIN ($1.80)
Value: Both Teams To Score – YES ($2.00)
Man City v Man Utd – (Sun 2:30am)
City have a chance to clinch the title against the enemy but for once this season, they have bigger things to worry about. They were completely outplayed by Liverpool in the Champions League and will need to save all of their resources for an attempt to overcome a 3 goal deficit. The Wolf says that Pep would be crazy to risk De Bruyne or David Silva and expects to see the likes of Yaya Toure and Delph instead. Mourinho will not be doing them any favours either and The Wolf is hoping he has learned from the tactics that Klopp has used against the league leaders. He should employ a high press in order to put extreme pressure on City and deny them from playing out from the back. With Lingard, Rashford and Sanchez they have the speed to play a very high line and it is exactly what they should do. The Unders has saluted in 4 of the last 6 meetings across all competitions but The Wolf says this will be a far more open encounter. With City to play several squad players and Man Utd assured a top 4 finish – there will be fireworks.
Best: Over 2.5 goals ($1.80)
Value: Over & Man Utd WIN ($4.00)
Arsenal v Southampton – (Sun 11:15pm)
Two days will be all Arsenal have to prepare for this one following a Europa League clash with CSKA Moscow. They have found some late season form with 4 consecutive wins with the duo of Aubameyang and Welbeck looking very dangerous. With virtually no injuries to speak of there will be no shortage of depth at Wenger’s disposal. Chambers, Monreal, Elneny, Xhaka, Wishere, Iwobi… are all options which is bad news for a Southampton side that has failed to find the back of the net in almost 300 minutes of Premier League football. The combined score over the last three meetings reads 8-1 in Arsenal’s favour and The Wolf says to get right around the Gunners.
Best: Arsenal WIN ($1.90)
Value: Arsenal Over 2.5 goals ($2.75)
