EPL Gameweek 34 / FA Cup Semi’s

The hunt for the title is BACK ON and we can thank Jose Mourinho and Manchester United. Their win over Chelsea at Old Trafford means that Spurs are just 4 points behind the league leaders and if the form of Spurs is anything to go by they could go the rest of the season without dropping a point. The two sides meet in the FA Cup semi’s this weekend with Arsenal hosting Man City in the other semi. In the league – Liverpool look to solidify their spot in the top 4 while Man Utd look to close the gap on Man City when they travel to Burnley.

Feature Previews

Burnley v Man Utd – (Sun 11:15pm)
They certainly had some luck but Man Utd made it count. The ref missed a handball which led to the Rashford goal with a wicked deflection seeing Herrera’s shot give them a two goal cushion which would be enough to beat Chelsea. The key to the win was again their defence. Backing up from Europa they will again look to play a slow and controlled style of football. The Red Devils are now 22 games undefeated in the league and although The Wolf thinks they will extend the streak at Turf Moor he is warning us not to underestimate Burnley. They have won 6 of their last 8 EPL matches at home with Spurs the only side to beat them in that stretch. They held Chelsea to a draw and have conceded just 4 goals in their last 7 league game at home with the Under saluting in 6 of those 7 games. There will be nothing between them.
Best: Under 2.5 goals ($1.66)
Value: Draw ($3.75)

Liverpool v Crystal Palace – (Mon 01:30am)
It has been a roller coaster ride for the Reds this season but they look set to grab an all important top 4 finish and a spot in the Champions League. Firmino and Coutinho have led the way in a 7 game unbeaten run and they look to continue with their recent good form at Anfield. Their recent run at home includes wins over Spurs, Arsenal and Everton but they have won just 4 of their last 10 against Palace. There has been goals galore in the recent meetings between the two sides with the last 9 producing at least 3 goals and an average of 4 goals per game in those encounters. There will be goals!
Best: Over 2.5 goals ($1.66)
Value: Over 3.5 goals ($2.25)

Chelsea v Tottenham – (Sun 2:15am)
Attention turns to the FA Cup for the top 2 teams on the EPL ladder as Chelsea clash with Spurs at Wembley on Sunday morning.  The two teams have never been closer in the title race as the gap narrows to 4 points off the back of Spurs 7 game winning streak and Chelsea slipping up against both Palace and more recently, Man Utd.  The two have traded home wins in their EPL encounters so far this season but the cup is an entirely different beast.  Held on neutral ground, there will be no home advantage and given the fact that both teams are based not too far from Wembley, both will see strong support from their fans.  Spurs have scored 15 goals on their way to the semi-final stage and have conceded just 3 (all against Wycombe) and the return of Harry Kane and the in-form Alli & Son will see them push Chelsea to their limits.  Man Utd showed last weekend that Chelsea’s attack can be stopped with Herrera particularly impressive with his man-marking duties on Hazard.  The wolf can see Dier operating the same way in this game.  The first 15-20mins could be cagey but the game should open up after that and whoever comes out on top with have a huge mental edge going into the final games of the EPL title race.  The Wolf thinks Spurs are flying right now and given that Chelsea have been stuttering, he is backing Spurs to win in 90 minutes,
Best: Spurs WIN ($2.60)
Value: HT/FT – Draw/Spurs ($5.50)

Arsenal v Man City – (Mon 00:00am)
Will a third FA Cup final appearance in four years be enough to appease the Arsenal fans after another season of failure?  That is the question on everyone’s lips as the Gunners take on Guardiola’s Manchester City in the second semi-final on Monday morning.  Both teams have had relatively easy routes to this stage of the competition, Arsenal scoring 14 in their 4 matches & City scoring 15. Arsenal’ faltering top-four bid has created an uneasy atmosphere with the Emirates and failure to reach the cup final will only add to the ‘Wenger Out’ brigade. Wolfy is still of the opinion that Wenger should stay, simply because there are no quality managers available currently that would be able to take on such a demanding role, however a loss here might make Wenger’s position untenable. The top teams played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Emirates just 3 weeks ago but since then , Arsenal have been up & down in both there results and performances.  City meanwhile have won their last 2, scoring 3 on both occasions.  History suggests that there will be goals in this game as both defences can be leaky and given the pressure on Wenger’s men to perform, The Wolf can see an open game with chances at both ends.
Best: Highest scoring half – 2nd half ($1.85)
Value: Man City 3-1 ($13.00)
