EPL Preview – Gameweek 21

EPL Gameweek 21 Preview and Tips

City’s lead at the top is now 15 points but just 6 points separate the next 5 sides – only 3 of which can join City in the Champions League. Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd are all at home for Gameweek 21 but The Wolf says they face some very tricky opponents. More points will be dropped heading into the New Year. We will be one game short for Gameweek 21 with the New Year’s Eve fixture between London rivals Tottenham and West Ham being rescheduled.

EPL Match Previews

Chelsea v Stoke – (Sun 2:00am)
Chelsea made hark work of it against Brighton and The Wolf is expecting much of the same against Stoke. Conte has become almost solely reliant on Morata up front and we saw him take off Hazard, Kante and the Spaniard with time to spare after the Blues took a two goal lead. It indicates his intentions to play the trio in every game over the busy period which leads The Wolf to expect a very similar style of play – controlled and methodical. The Under is 7-2 in their last 9 league games at Stamford Bridge and they have managed 6 clean sheets in that stretch. They are also undefeated in their last 11 at home to Stoke across all competitions (10 wins and a draw) holding The Potters scoreless in 7 of those encounters. The focus will be on defence for Conte and after having conceded just once in their last 5 EPL home games The Wolf is expecting another clean sheet.
Best: Teams To Score – Chelsea Only ($1.72)
Value: Under 2.5 goals ($2.75)

Liverpool v Leicester – (Sun 2:00am)
This shapes as the must watch fixture of Gameweek 21! Both sides have been involved in very high scoring matches as of late and the trend looks set to continue. The Over is 5-0 in Leicester’s last 5 and 6-0 in their last 6 EPL games away from home. They have scored 13 goals in their last 6 away games and have managed to score in each of their last 5 encounters with the Reds – with multiple goals in  of them. Liverpool’s defence is set to get a huge boost with the record signing of Van Dijk but his first appearance is set to come in the FA Cup clash with Everton. What we do know about Liverpool is that they are on fire in attack! They have scored 12 goals in their last 3 with Coutinho, Firmino and Salah combining for 9 goals and 7 assists. The Wolf is adamant that Klopp will not be rotating the front quarter (Mane included) and says the goals will continue to flow.
Best: Over 3.5 goals ($2.00)
Value: Over 4.5 goals ($3.25)

Man Utd v Southampton – (Sun 4:30am)
It is no secret that Mourinho teams are built on defence but after conceding multiple goals in each of their last 3 games the results have turned sour. Dating back further they have maintained just 1 clean sheet in their last 9 matches across all competitions – something we could not have seen coming after they had a run of 12 clean sheets in 15 matches earlier in the season. This leads The Wolf to believe that Mourinho will shift even more focus onto defence and if their recent meetings with Southampton are anything to go by we are likely to see a turnaround. The Red Devils have conceded just once in their last 4 EPL clashes with the Saints with a total of just 4 goals in those matches. With Soares and Bertrand out for the Saints we should see United look to exploit them in wide areas. Once they get their noses in front we will see Mourinho park the bus.
Best: Both Teams To Score – No ($1.70)
Value: Under 2.5 goals & Man Utd WIN ($3.40)

C.Palace v Man City – (Sun 11:00pm)
Palace have been given a new lease of life under Roy Hodgson with the 3-2 loss at the hands of Arsenal their first defeat in their last 9 EPL fixtures. Things are set to get even harden though as they host a rampant Man City. Their 13 point lead at Christmas was the largest in English top flight history and that lead was extended to 15 when United dropped points at home to Burnley. There really is no telling what the margin will be come season’s end and The Invincibles undefeated mark is definitely under threat. Few teams in the history of football have had the luxury of depth that Pep has at his disposal. David Silva will return after being rested while Aguero could again start after being given an early mark against Newcastle. City have won all 10 of their away games this season with multiple goals in 8 of them. The Wolf has marked this game to be the highest scoring of the weekend! Palace have scored multiple goals in each of their last 7 EPL home games and as we saw against Arsenal they will not be taking a back seat. City have scored 24 goals in their last 6 against Palace across all competitions including 5 in each of the last two. You will not want to look away during this one.
Best: Over 3.5 goals ($2.10)
Value: Over 5.5 goals ($6.50)

West Brom v Arsenal – (Mon 3:30am)
The Gunners have returned to their free scoring best in recent weeks with Sanchez and Ozil leading the way. We are seeing them play at a faster tempo in attack and it has resulted in them creating far more goal scoring opportunities. Wilshere has done a stellar job as Ramsey’s replacement while Bellerin and Kolasinac have the potential to be the best wing back duo in the Premier League. The Baggies did a good job holding Everton out but this Arsenal side is far more dangerous. City, Man Utd and Chelsea have all come away from The Hawthorns with all 3 points and The Wolf says Wenger’s team will be added to that list. Arsenal have won 6 of the last 8 meetings including the most recent earlier this season. The Gunners are the type of side that can get on a roll and with a meeting against Chelsea to follow the 3 points on offer here are all the more important.
Best: Arsenal WIN ($1.72)
Value: HT/FT – Arsenal/Arsenal ($2.70)
