UCL Quarter Finals Previews

Wednesday (4:45am)

Real Madrid v Bayern Munich
It was a tale of two halves in Munich. Bayern got off to a dominant start with Vidal giving them an early league but the tie turned when the Chilean missed a penalty that would have put them two up. Ronaldo struck right after the break before Javi Martinez had a brain explosive receiving two yellow cards in the space of minutes and consequently being sent off. Madrid went on to control the remainder of the match, scoring a second and placing them in a very comfortable position. Ribery and Robben were nullified in the first leg thanks to fantastic defensive work from Carvajal and Marcelo. Casemiro ability to shut down the counter was also pivotal in the win making his combination with Modric and Kroos in the middle all the more important. Real have now won the last 4 meetings between the two teams and 5 straight against Bayern at the Bernabeu. With the visitors forced to push the tempo we will see an even more open game than the 1st leg. Munich need at least two goals to progress and they won’t be holding Madrid out. We could see a flurry of late goals.
Best: Over 3.5 goals ($2.00)
Value: Second Half Over 2.5 goals ($3.00)

Leicester v Atletico Madrid
We’ve been writing off Leicester throughout the entire competition but the fairy-tale continues. They defied the odds to overcome Sevilla in the Round of 16 and have the chance to beat Spanish opposition yet again. Despite Atletico going up early in the 1st leg the Foxes were able to hang on, conceding just the once. It keeps them right in this tie. Atletico rarely put 3 or 4 past teams in the UCL and Simeone’s main focus is to always maintain a clean sheet. They have done exactly that in 6 of their last 9 UCL matches with only one team scoring multiple goals against them in that stretch. If Atletico score once this tie is over. The Wolf can see Atletico pinching one on the counter and locking up shop. When Atletico set up defensively they are the toughest team in Europe to break down. They are the most disciplined defensive side we have seen for a long time and Leicester don’t have the class to break them down. Wolfy will be shocked if there are more than 2 goals in this one.
Best: Under 2.5 goals ($1.65)
Value: Correct Score Atletico 1-0 ($7.00)

Thursday (4:45am)

Barcelona v Juventus
Another abysmal performance away from home means Barcelona will have to come up with another miracle. The Wolf tipped Juve in the 1st leg and warned us that Barcelona would not be able to overcome half the deficit that they faced against PSG. He says the 3 goal deficit that they face against Juventus is bigger than the 4 goals they overcame against PSG. The Italian giants are a team that has been built on defence for decades – a club that has filled cabinets full of trophies thanks to being able to maintain clean sheets. They have 7 clean sheets in their last 9 UCL matches and there really is no replacement for experience. Barcelona have the most potent trio in world football (Messi, Neymar and Suarez) but their midfield has failed in getting them the ball in attacking area. The Wolf has for long said that Iniesta is done and it has really shown in their recent UCL matches. Rakitic and Sergi Roberto lack the vision and silky passing to play anyone through while Umtiti and Mathieu are complete liabilities in defence. Khedira and Pjanic will control the game in midfield with Dybala and Higuain to strike on the counter. This Barca team as we know it will go through household changes in the off season.
Best: Both Teams To Score – YES ($1.53)
Value: Juventus Over 1.5 goals ($3.20)

Monaco v Dortmund
‘We are likely to see a handful of goals’ was the Wolf’s closing statement leading into the first leg and he was right on. Monaco were clinical on the counter attack with Mbappe nothing short of unstoppable. Three away goals puts them in pole position to progress and they return home where they have lost just 2 of their last 27 across all competitions. They have found the back of the net at least twice in 22 of those matches meaning Dortmund have a tough road ahead of them. Dortmund have won just 2 of their last 6 away matches in this competition and although The Wolf thinks they are more than capable of scoring the goals they will not be able to hold out Falcao, Mbappe and Fabinho. If Monaco are given free reign down their right flank as they were in Dortmund the Germans don’t stand a chance.
Best: Over 3.5 goals ($1.90)
Value: Over 4.5 goals ($3.00)
