UCL Round of 16 Feature Previews

Basel v Man City – (Wed 6:45am)
Wins in 4 of their last 5 UCL group game catapulted Basel into a runner up finish but this shapes as a very tough proposition for them. They hos the runaway leaders in the EPL and will do so having played just two competitive matches since mid December. The Swiss Super League has a winter break due to the snow and since it’s return a fortnight ago, Basel have already suffered defeat at home. As a regular entrant in this competition Basel have learnt to play with no fear – especially at home. They have wins over Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea at home over the last few seasons and have found the back of the net in 26 of their last 29 UCL home fixtures (including qualifiers). It is no secret that City can find the back of the net but they are prone to conceding – as we saw at home to Leicester over the weekend. City have conceded in 23 of their 28 away UCL matches and have been extremely poor in their recent travels. They have won just 2 of their last 7 away from home in this competition and have allowed multiple goals in 5 of those matches. There is no doubting their quality but Basel are getting no respect and The Wolf says we have to take the value on offer.
Best: Both Teams To Score – YES ($1.80)
Value: Basel Over 1.5 goals ($4.40)

Juventus v Tottenham – (Wed 6:45am)
Two of the form sides in world football lock horns in a clash worthy of final status. Spurs have climbed into the top 4 thanks to a unbeaten run of 9 league games, capped off with a win over rivals Arsenal. Meanwhile Juve have been working on their own little win streak. After a slow start to the season they have reeled off 11 straight wins across all competitions and have conceded just a single goal dating back to November. You may have to read this twice to really consume it according to The Wolf… Juve have maintained 15 cleans sheets in their last 16 games (all comps), which includes matches against Inter, Roma, Napoli and Barcelona. Historically Juventus have always been one of the best defensive sides in Europe and their current squad is no exception. Chiellini and Benatia are the stalwarts in central defence which Khedira, Pjanic and Marchisio act as the screeners. This allows Alex Sandro and Lichtsteiner to make overlapping runs down the flanks. The Wolf says Kane will be completely shut out in this game with Eriksen and Dele Alli to get very limited time on the ball. Under 2.5 goals is 6-1 in Juve’s last 7 and you can be sure that the primary focus in this one will be to maintain a clean sheet. This is uncharted territory for Spurs and The Wolf says the experience of the Italians will get them over the line. Juve to progress.
Best: Under 2.5 goals ($1.61)
Value: Correct Score Juventus 1-0 ($6.50)

Porto v Liverpool – (Thur 6:45am)
Liverpool have no excuse but to take full advantage of a favourable draw. They somehow avoided Juventus, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. Porto will be no push over but the reality is that they posted the second lowest total of the 16 teams that qualified for the knockout stages. Furthermore, in came in a group that consisted of Besiktas, Leipzig and Monaco. Porto are undefeated in their last 21 league games but the losses in 4 of their last 8 UCL matches provide a much better indication of where they stand in comparison to Europe’s best. Liverpool have been a goal scoring machine this season and their performances in this competition have been no exception. The Reds scored 23 goals in the group stage, finding the back of the net on at least 3 occasions in 4 of their matches. They are undefeated in their last 5 away games in this competitions with Over 2.5 goals saluting in 4 of those matches. As can be expected, they have conceded in 9 of their last 11 UCL road fixtures, meaning we are in for yet another goal fest.
Best: Over 2.5 goals ($1.70)
Value: Over 3.5 goals ($3.00)

Real Madrid v PSG – (Thur 6:45am)
The addition of Neymar was supposed to turn them into a genuine contender for this competition and they get the chance to really prove themselves. Real Madrid are the two time defending UCL champions, have claimed the title in 3 of the last 4 seasons with a record of 12 overall. The critics have been quick to write them off as they have struggled over the last 6 months. Madrid sit 4th in La Liga, a massive 17 points behind Barcelona and finished runner up in their group behind Tottenham. All of that being said, The Wolf says not to write off a champion! Madrid are proven in this competition, and most importantly, in the home and away format. PSG on the other hand have come up short against the cream of the crop. We saw them capitulate in a 6-1 loss to Barcelona last season and when tested away to Bayern in their last outing they also came up short. It is easy to say that they had already qualified but with the league title all but in the bag, it was a match that they committed a full strength side to. The Wolf has forever been a fan of Verratti but says Kroos and Modric will help Real dominate in the middle of the park. Ramos and Varane have seen more than their fair share of Neymar and as long as they can slow him down The Wolf says Madrid will be winning.
Best: Real Madrid WIN ($2.35)
Value: Real Madrid Score Both Halves ($2.75)
