UCL Quarter Finals Previews

Wednesday

Juventus v Real Madrid – (Wed 4:45am)
Five minutes of brilliance from Juventus made all of the difference against Tottenham. It has been part of Juve’s DNA over decades but Real Madrid has been a source of pain for some time. Twice the Spanish side has beaten them in the final of this competition – including a 4-1 drubbing in last years finale. Ronaldo was again the catalyst and his record against the Italian side is phenomenal. He has scored in each of the last 5 meetings with a total of 7 goals! For all the criticism that Madrid have received this season, they are coming good at just the right time. They have won 10 of their last 11 across all competitions with a whopping 36 goals in that stretch. They are seeking a 13th European Cup and a 3rd straight with The Wolf adamant that Juve will not stand in their way. The ‘Old Lady’ of Italian football is undefeated in 14 straight UCL matches at home but can they keep Real Madrid from scoring… NO, according to Wolfy. They have scored in their last 10 away matches in this competition with multiple goals in 8 of those matches. The Over is 10-0 in that stretch and it is the reason why The Wolf is expecting goals. Both teams have found the back of the net in the last 5 meetings and Juve will be fully aware that they will need to take some sort of a lead with them to the Bernabeu if they are to progress. Goals!
Best: Both Teams To Score – YES ($1.83)

Sevilla v Bayern Munich – (Wed 4:45am)
Credit must be given to Sevilla for getting past Man Utd but Bayern Munich pose a very different threat. They were afforded acres of space in the middle and on the counter at Old Trafford, generating 13 shot attempts. The Wolf says they will be lucky to match that over two legs against the Germans, noting that Bayern could claim 70% possession. The Bundesliga champions have been in ominous form with some big wins. They put 6 past Dortmund at the weekend with Lewandowski grabbing a hat-trick. Bayern have also won their last 6 in this competition but have gone 12 matches without a clean sheet away from home in the Champions League. The Wolf is a big fan of Banega in midfield but cannot see him getting enough touches on the ball. Rodriguez, Robben and Ribery have been able to move the ball around at the rate of knots. The touch and short passing ability of Lewandowski and Muller has allowed them to combine with the midfield trio and carve their way through opposing defences. With Sevilla having to back up from an outing with Barcelona, The Wolf is expecting them to run out of steam.
Best: Over 2.5 goals & Bayern Munich WIN ($2.15)
Value: Bayern Munich Over 2.5 goals ($2.80)

Thursday

Liverpool v Man City – (Thur 4:45am)
Anything could happen over the two legs in this one and there is no shortage of anticipation. City’s 5-0 win over Liverpool early on in the season was the clear signal that Pep’s men were destined for something special but it was that same side, Liverpool, which ended their dream of going undefeated. The Reds remain the only side to beat City in the Premier League this season and it will go down as one of the games of the season. It ended 4-3 which sent the tally to a combined 12 goals in their two meetings this season. They have combined for an incredible 163 league goals this season – 11 goals more than those scored by Barcelona and Real Madrid. Liverpool have won 5 of the last 8 meetings and lost just once with two draws. The Wolf says that they are the one side that can expose City’s weakness – playing out from the back when pressured. We will see them employ the high press and it will result in both sides enjoying an abundance of space in the final third. Liverpool have scored 28 goals in the Champions League, more than any other team, and The Wolf cannot ignore that fact. There is a unique contrast between the two sides – the calmness and control of City (De Bruyne and David Silva) compared to the relentless pace of Salah, Mane and Firmino. It 180 minutes of must watch football. We could see more than 10 goals over the two legs!
Best: Over 2.5 goals ($1.65)
Value: Over 4.5 goals ($5.00)

Barcelona v Roma – (Thur 4:45am)
It is no secret that this Barcelona side has a different mentality to those in years gone by. We rarely see them put 4 or 5 past opponents and they play with more control, with an increased focus in maintaining clean sheets. They are undefeated in this competition this season and have maintained 7 clean sheets in their last 9 UCL matches. There have been less than 3 goals in 11 of their last 14 matches, a statistic which is hard to comprehend with Messi and Suarez on the pitch. Roma have had some serious problems away from home in this competition. They have claimed victory in just 1 of their last 14 away matches in the Champions League and that win came away to lowly Qarabag. Roma are well out of their depth here and The Wolf says they will not be finding the back of the net. Barca will take a two goal lead with them to Rome.
Best: Teams To Score – Barcelona Only ($1.90)
Value: Correct Score Barcelona 2-0 ($7.00)
