UCL Matchday 3 Feature Previews
Man Utd v Benfica – (Wed 6:45am)
The Mourinho system is now in full effect at Manchester United. Statistically they are one of the best defensive units in Europe. They have maintained a clean sheet in 4 of their last 5 and that includes holding out Liverpool, Spurs and Benfica in Portugal. The Red Devils never looked threatened when the two sides met a fortnight ago and The Wolf isn’t expecting that to change at Old Trafford. Benfica’s last two away games in this competition have ended in 4-0 and 5-0 losses. United will travel to Stamford Bridge in their next fixture and The Wolf says that generally means Mourinho will request that his side switch off with 20 minutes to play. For entertainment the neutrals should cast their eyes on a different fixture.
Best: Teams To Score – Man Utd Only ($2.00)
Value: Correct Score Man Utd 2-0 ($6.50)
PSG v Anderlecht – (Wed 6:45am)
Following a string of impressive performances PSG have now been installed as the favourites to win this competition. Rightly so says The Wolf with the Parisian club as safe as houses thus far. Three matches have resulted in 3 wins, 3 clean sheets, 6 consecutive halves won and a total of 12 goals. It doesn’t get more dominant that that and Anderlecht will feel the full brunt of PSG force for the second time in as many weeks. The key to PSG’s success has been their ability and want to share the glory. We saw Mbappe, Cavani, Neymar and Di Maria all on the score sheet in a 4-0 win when the two sides last met and The Wolf is predicting this result to be even more dominant.
Best: Teams To Score – PSG Only ($1.75)
Value: PSG Over 5.5 goals ($4.40)
Roma v Chelsea – (Wed 6:45am)
Their encounter on Matchday 3 was one of the games of the season! Chelsea took a 2-0 lead against the run of play before Kolarov and Dzeko, both former EPL stars, put the Romans ahead. Hazard then leveled the scores and they shared the points. A point would leave Chelsea in the driving seat to top the group but they will not be going there to defend – not unless Kante returns to the line up. Without the Frenchman holding the fort Chelsea have leaked goals at an alarming rate. They have managed just a single clean sheet in their last 7 competitive matches and the Overs is 3-0 in their 3 UCL matches this season. Conte hinted that Kante could return after having trained with the side leading into their match against Bournemouth but The Wolf insists the focus will be for his return to come against Man Utd at the weekend. Manolas may return for Roma which would be another bonus. Roma were the better side at The Bridge and The Wolf says they should in fact be favourites for this one. He has them claiming top spot in the group with a win.
Best: Roma WIN ($2.60)
Value: 1st Half Over 1.5 goals ($2.60)
Tottenham v Real Madrid – (Thur 6:45am)
Tottenham caught the attention of the world with their performance at the Bernabeu and they followed it up by thumping Liverpool 4-1. Kane went off with a hamstring injury and Spurs have missed him losing both matches with him on the sidelines. 13 goals in 12 appearances across all competitions highlights his importance but The Wolf insists that there is no need to rush him back. They are 6 points clear of Dortmund and APOEL and will have already played Madrid twice. Real are now 8 points off Barca in La Liga after losing 2-1 to Girona with Ronaldo adding just 1 goal and 1 assist this season. Zidane’s men have scored more than twice in only 2 of their last 9 across all competitions – unheard of for a side that has been scoring for fun over the last two seasons. They have also conceded in 8 straight away UCL matches with the Over going 8-0 in that stretch. In fact there have been at least 4 goals in 6 of those matches. Kane or no Kane you want to be on the Overs.
Best: Over 2.5 goals ($1.44)
Value: Over 3.5 goals ($2.25)
Napoli v Man City – (Thur 6:45am)
City’s perfect start to the season continued at the weekend but they made two calamitous errors defensively and paid the price on both occasions. They have been incredibly fast starters with 8 goals in the opening half hour across their last 5 matches. That included 2 in the opening 13 minutes when the sides met at Etihad Stadium but City switched off and it was Napoli who were the better side for the remainder of the match. Napoli have maintained top spot in the Serie A with back to back wins and they continue to be like City – free flowing and free scoring with 3 goals in each of their last two fixtures. We are yet to see City put under pressure this season but The Wolf says we will not have to wait any longer. He expects Diawara to have a standout performance. Look for him to find Insigne and Callejon in space with Mertens to test Ottamendi and co. This has the makings of one of the games of the season.
