A-League Tips Round 25

There were shock results across the board last week and there could have been more with Sydney FC scoring in injury time to claim all three points against the Mariners. It means that four teams are fighting for the final two spots in the finals.

A-League Tips & Preview Round 25

Perth v Sydney FC – (Thur 9:30pm)
The Glory maintained just their 3rd clean sheet of the season last week and were rewarded with all three points as a result. The Sky Blues also earned themselves a victory with an injury time goal to Matt Simon securing the Premier’s Plate. Sydney could coast in the final rounds of the regular season and with a must win encounter against the Suwon Bluewings to follow, The Wolf is adamant that Graham Arnold will give several key players the night off. They will be travelling from Sydney to Perth and back before heading to Korea – it only makes sense for Arnold to take advantage of the scenario. Perth will come out with all guns blazing as they chase a spot in the finals and it could be their downfall. Sydney have crushed them on the counter in the past! The Sky Blues have won the last 8 meetings with a combined score of 26-2. It’s a phenomenal record but it has been 9 matches (across all competitions) since the Sky Blues maintained a clean sheet while the Glory have won their last 4 A-League fixtures at home. We will be backing multiple goals from the Gloty along with a upset win for the hosts.
Best Bet: Perth Over 1.5 goals ($2.70)
Value Bet: Perth WIN ($3.80)

Adelaide v Wellington – (Fri 7:50pm)
Adelaide exploded with 5 goals last week and The Wolf says you can thank one man in particular – Johan Absalonsen. The Wolf tipped him to win the Johnny Warren Medal but injury stopped him in his tracks after what was a superb start to the season. He returned to the starting lineup a fortnight ago and has found the back of the net in consecutive games. With Mileusnic and Absalonsen supporting Cavusevic the Reds look like a different side in attack. Their charge to the finals will continue this week against a Phoenix side that has lost it’s last 4 away games. The Nix have conceded multiple goals in 5 of their last 6 away games and The Wolf says the flood gates will open up late on.
Best Bet: Adelaide WIN ($1.50)
Value Bet: 2nd Hal Adelaide 3+ goals ($6.50)

Brisbane v Central Coast – (Sat 5:35pm)
Two points dropped is how the Roar will view their draw with Wellington last week. They failed to produce in a match which had huge finals implications for them. They would have penciled in 6 points for the two games against the cellar dwellers making this one all the more important. The Roar do have the advantage of facing a dejected Mariners side. They were set to take yet another point of the league leaders but conceded with virtually the last kick of the game. Recovering from that will not be easy and The Wolf says that we could see Brisbane get the jump on them early as a result. They are undefeated in their last 11 against the Mariners – a stretch that included 9 wins. They will be extending their unbeaten run thanks to a dominant win.
Best Bet: HT/FT – Brisbane/Brisbane ($2.45)
Value Bet: Time of 1st Brisbane Goal – Up to 15th minute ($4.00)

Melbourne Victory v Western Sydney – (Sat 7:50pm)
Somehow the Wanderers are clinging onto 6th spot. They have won just 1 of their last 5 and were humbled at AAMI Park last week by Melbourne City. The Wolf is perplexed with the Wanderers and finds it hard to believe that the midfield of Bonevacia, Vejudo and Lustica can get consistently outplayed. There is a real lack of pace in the Wanderers midfield and they are one of the slowest teams when it comes to moving the ball. It leaves them vulnerable against a Victory side which has speed to burn on the wings thanks to Barbarouses and Leroy George. Melbourne are undefeated in the last 7 clashes and have maintained 5 cleans sheets in their last 6 against the Wanderers. The Wolf has eyes for only one team. Victory to make a statement!
Best Bet: Melbourne Victory WIN ($1.66)
Value Bet: Win Both Halves – Melbourne Vic ($3.75)

Newcastle v Melbourne City – (Sun 5:00pm)
We knew that the Jets would not be the same without Nabbout and with Petratos away on International duty, there is now no doubt that the pair were the driving force behind their success this season. The Wolf now has grave concerns over their ability to deal with potential injuries come finals time. City seem to have found themselves defensively and with Fornaroli now back to full fitness they are a completely difference proposition for their opponents. The Uruguayan attracts multiple defenders which basically creates and extra number for his side in midfield. We have seen more of Bozanic and Mauk as a result which is a great sign for City fans. The Overs is 10-0 in the last 10 A-League meetings between the two sides with 40 goals in that stretch! We will be backing goals and plenty of them.
Best Bet: Over 2.5 goals ($1.70)
Value Bet: Over 3.5 goals ($3.00)
