A-League Tips Round 27

It’s the final round of the regular season and we have three sides in the hunt for the 6th and final spot in the finals. The Wanderers control their own destiny following their win last week while the Roar and Glory lock horns with the winner keeping their finals hopes alive.

A-League Tips & Preview Round 27

Sydney FC v Melbourne Victory – (Fri 7:50pm)
Just when it looked like Sydney FC would come back to the field, they come out and win 4 in a row including a 4-1 win away to the Bluewings in the AFC Champions League. Despite having already claimed the Premier’s Plate, they have continued to play fantastic football. They were flawless against Adelaide and you can be sure that they will not be taking it easy in the Big Blue Derby. The same can be said about the Victory. They have locked in a home final next week but will be looking to test themselves against a Sydney side that has had their number. The Sky Blues are undefeated in their last 7 against their rivals – a run that includes 5 wins and no more than a single goal allowed in each match. The first half is always a tactical battle with the teams heading to the break scoreless in 3 of the last 4 meetings. The Wolf is expecting much of the same this time around at Allianz.
Best Bet: Under 2.5 goals ($2.30)
Value Bet: 1st Half Correct Score 0-0 ($3.50)

Wellington v Melbourne City – (Sat 5:35pm)
It has been a season to forget for the Phoenix and it cannot end soon enough. A win would give them a chance of avoiding to spoon but the reality is that they deserve it. Their record over the last 10 games reads 1 win, 1 draw and 8 losses. The 54 goals conceded is 7 more than any other team and they have rarely looked competitive. City on the other hand are finding their best football at just the right time. Fornaroli was on the mark for the 3rd game in a row with his side now posted three consecutive wins – all with clean sheets. City have won the last 6 clashes between the two clubs with a combined score of 14-3. One way traffic for the visitors.
Best Bet: Melbourne City WIN ($1.75)
Value Bet: Teams To Score – Melbourne City Only ($3.75)

Central Coast v Newcastle – (Sat 7:50pm)
The Mariners have struggled all season long but there are several positives for the young side moving forward. Few would be aware that 9 of their 14 losses have come by a single goal margin – including their last 3. The F3 Derby provides them with a great opportunity to finish the season on a high and The Wolf says that the Jets are there for the taking. They have lost their last 3 and look to have switched off since locking in second spot. That being said, they have been dominant in the derby – losing just 1 of their last 10 against the Mariners. The Wolf is expecting the Mariners to find the back of the net. They have done so in their last 5 home games while the Jets have now failed to score in their last two.
Best Bet: Under 2.5 goals ($2.35)
Value Bet: Correct Score 1-1 ($8.00)

Perth v Brisbane – (Sat 10:00pm)
One thing is for certain – this one will not be ending in a draw. The winner will give themselves a chance of making the finals while the loser will start their holidays early. They are two of the form sides in the competition, each with 4 wins, a draw and just the one loss in their last 6 games. Perth have made full use of their home games winning 4 of their last 5 at nib Stadium and are undefeated in their last 7 when hosting the Roar. Goals have been the name of the game when these two have met in recent seasons. The Over is 7-0 in the last 7 meetings with a total of 31 goals in that stretch, almost 4.5 per game! Aloisi admitted that he risked players carrying injury last week and that it effectively cost his side a shot a 3 points and a spot in the finals. He eluded to panic and chasing the game – signs of a side lacking confidence. The Wolf will be getting right behind the Glory.
Best Bet: Perth WIN ($2.10)
Value Bet: Over 4.5 goals ($4.25)

Western Sydney v Adelaide – (Sun 5:00pm)
A very impressive 3-0 win over Brisbane last week has put the Wanderers in control of their own destiny. They have been a different team at home and the recent performances in front of their fans has kept them in the hunt for the finals. They are undefeated in their last 5 at home with 3 wins and 2 draws. They have scored 14 goals in that stretch and Riera is finally getting help. Hamill, Ikonomidis, Santalab and Bridge have all contributed and the RBB will be singing ‘it’s about time’. They have scored half of their 36 season goals in their last 10 matches and should be able to seal a finals spot when they host a Adelaide side that has lost and failed to score in it’s last 3 away games.
Best Bet: Western Sydney WIN ($1.75)
Value Bet: Teams To Score – Western Sydney Only ($3.30)
