A-League Tips Round 26

It’s the penultimate round of the regular season and three teams with battle it out over the final two games for 6th place and the last available slot for the finals. Sydney FC claimed the Premier’s Plate for the second consecutive year with the Jets assured of second spot and a week off. The Wanderers can leap frog the Roar if they manage to claim all three points from their clash at ANZ Stadium.

A-League Tips & Preview Round 26

Newcastle v Perth – (Fri 7:50pm)
It seems as though the Jets have taken the foot off the pedal in recent weeks with a top 2 finish guaranteed but The Wolf has concerns over whether they can switch back on come finals time. A 3-0 loss at home last week was the first time this season that they failed to score and just the second time that they conceded more than twice in a game. The Jets were pounded from pillar to post and The Wolf says the alarm bells will be ringing if they don’t bring their best this week. It’s a dead rubber for the Jets but for the Glory it is a chance to keep their finals hopes alive. They gave Sydney everything they had last week and will repeat that effort at Newcastle. They have scored multiple goals in 10 of their last 12 against the Jets and have lost just 2 of the last 18 clashes between the two clubs. They should not be this big an outsider!
Best Bet: Perth Over 1.5 goals ($2.20)
Value Bet: Over 2.5 goals & Perth WIN ($3.75)

Western Sydney v Brisbane – (Sat 5:35pm)
Back to back losses have seen the Wanderers fall out of the top 6 and The Wolf says they will not be making the finals. They were poor against the Victory last week and will also be without Thwaite after he was sent off. It leaves them skinny at the back against a Roar side brimming with confidence. Undefeated in their last four, three wins and a draw, they have been playing with a real calmness. The trio of McKay, Kristensen and Pepper have been working awfully hard in midfield while Khalfallah and Bautheac have been effective on the flanks. The home team has been victorious in only 1 of the last 6 meetings and The Wolf is expecting that trend to continue. Brisbane to secure a spot in the finals by taking all three points on offer.
Best Bet: Brisbane WIN ($2.80)
Value Bet: Teams To Score – Brisbane Only ($5.50)

Melbourne City v Central Coast – (Sat 7:50pm)
What a difference Bruno Fornaroli makes! City are a new side with their star striker back in the lineup and he has been on fire with 3 goals in his last 4 appearances. They could have put more than 5 past the Jets last week had it not been for the woodwork and some missed opportunities. The Mariners on the other hand can thank the Phoenix, as the side from across the Tasman are the only reason why they are likely to avoid the wooden spoon. The Central Coast outfit has now lost it’s last four matches overall and they have claimed just 8 points away from home this season. City are undefeated in the last 8 matches in this series and have won the last four clashes at AAMI Park. This one will be one way traffic and The Wolf is expecting Fronaroli to be the star!
Best Bet: HT/FT – Melbourne City/Melbourne City ($1.85)
Value Bet: Melbourne City Over 3.5 goals ($4.00)

Melbourne Victory v Wellington – (Sun 5:00pm)
Kevin Muscat’s side have done a great job dealing with their ACL and A-League commitments. They remain in the hunt for the knockout stages and have also managed to win 4 of their last 5 league games. They will have to go this one without Barbarouses (suspended) but The Wolf says there should be no concern and the Berisha/George combination will run riot on the Nix who have lost their last 5 away games. Wellington have bigger worries on their hands with the club oods on to lose it’s licence when it is up for renewal at the end of next season. Their off field performance is as bad as what they have been producing on the field and The Wolf is predicting things to go from bad to worse over the next 12 months. Amazingly, the Nix have won 3 of the last 4 meetings but The Wolf says to get all the chips in the middle and have them on the Victory.
Best Bet: Win Both Halves – Melbourne Victory ($2.60)
Value Bet: 2nd Half Melbourne Victory 3+ goals ($5.50)

Sydney FC v Adelaide – (Sun 7:00pm)
It had been a huge week for Sydney FC! They claimed the Premier’s Plate with a win over Perth and kept their ACL dream alive with a very impressive 4-1 win away to the Suwon Bluewings. Adelaide have done some winning of their own with wins over the Jets and Phoenix helping them secure a spot in the finals. Absalonsen found his way onto the score sheet for a 3rd consecutive game and The Wolf says had he not been injured this season the Reds would have been challenging for a top two finish. The 9 goals in their last 3 games represents more than a quarter of the goals they have scored all season long. They will be hoping that the goal scoring spree continues but The Wolf would like to make us aware of the fact that the Reds have gone 5 league matches against the Sky Blues without finding the back of the net. There have been less than three goals in 5 of the last 6 meetings and with Sydney facing a busy schedule The Wolf is expecting a very controlled tempo. Unders!
Best Bet: Under 2.5 goals ($2.10)
Value Bet: 1st Half Correct Score 0-0 ($3.25)
