Wolf’s Racing Guide – Thursday, 18 April

The Wolf goes to Werribee, Wyong, Pakenham and Townsville in search of winners on Thursday.

Wolf’s Best

Saxaphone (Werribee Race 5, No.6)

Saxaphone covered more ground than the early settlers last week at Seymour when caught wide for the duration. Under those circumstances, his effort to battle on and run second was a very good one. Today he has less weight, and just as important, a better draw. He is racing in terrific form and can go one better today.

Circuit Bets

Love None (Wyong Race 5, No.2)

Love None comes into this race off the back of very respectable performances in the Country Championship qualifiers behind Suncraze and Don’t Give A Damn. This is a nice drop in class for her, and with the good draw as well as the claim for Rachel Hunt, she can record her fifth career win.

Recommended Price: $2.50

Lord Sundowner (Pakenham Race 6, No.5)

Lord Sundowner showed heaps of ability in the spring, winning back to back races at the provincial level in brilliant style before coming to Caulfield and finishing second in Listed grade behind Snitzepeg. He resumes from a spell here with a trial win under his belt, and it would be no surprise to see him kick things off with a win here before going on to better races.

Platinum Tycoon (Townsville Race 6, No.4)

Platinum Tycoon is looking for a hat-tricks of wins here and The Wolf sees no reason why he won’t bring it up. His first two wins, both at this track, have come with something in hand, and although this race looks stronger, the good draw and the claim for Amanda Thomson, who has ridden him successfully in the past, will hold him in good stead.

Recommended Price: $1.80
