Wolf’s Racing Guide – Thursday, 17 May

The Wolf’s best bet caught his eye with an excellent debut run and comes from one of his favourite stables.

Wolf’s Best

Smokin’ Pierro (Kilmore Race 1, No.6)

Smokin’ Pierro was excellent on debut at Geelong when he missed the kick but ran on strongly to finish second behind the very talented Absolute Heaven. The extra distance looks very much in his favour today, and he should have taken good benefit from the race experience he will have gained from that debut run. A royally bred galloper from the astute Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes camp, he can take the next step by winning here.

Circuit Bets

Integrated (Pakenham Race 2, No.3)

Integrated has been knocking on the door with seven placings from ten career starts, and while the non-winner label at this stage is a fair one, the addition of blinkers for the first time should see him improve considerably today. Talented apprentice Fred Kersley takes the ride and his front running style should be suited on the synthetic track.

Recommended Price: $3.00

Usain Bowler (Pakenham Race 8, No.6)

Usain Bowler was an unexpected debut winner back in March but he was also an impressive one, putting away a good field that included the talented Vitani. Trainer John Sadler has given him a let up following that victory and with natural improvement he should prove hard to beat here.
Confidence Level:
Recommended Price: $3.50

Bolter

Biodynamic (Kembla Race 8, No.1)

Biodynamic went around in the English Derby five starts ago and it is fair to say this race is a lot easier. He has had three runs in Australia without showing a whole lot, but stepping up to 2000m today he should be ready to put his best foot forward. He has been beaten less than five lengths at his last two so there is reason for optimism. At nice double figure odds he has strong appeal.
