Wolf’s Racing Guide – Wednesday 30 August

Wolf’s Best

Taikomochi (Canterbury Race 4, No. 2)

Typical Gai Waterhouse front runner looking for win number three in a row.

He’s progressed through the grades well and with his racing pattern, on a track that generally suits those on speed, he has a very good chance of running away with things.

This is his toughest test to date, but you can be confident that with Hyeronimus engaged combined with the inside barrier, he’ll be given every chance to bowl along in front and take running down from there.

Recommended Bet: Price Pump from $2.50 – $2.75.

Double Down: Expect him to lead.

Fox Swift (Sandown Race 1, No. 5)

Filly by Foxwedge that won her maiden by over three lengths last start at Moe.

She won that day in style, settling on the speed before letting down in the straight to score by a margin.

There’s a lot of pace on paper here; so the camp may need to take a trail behind the leaders before taking over in the straight.

Luke Nolen stays on and if she runs up to his last start performance she’ll take beating.

Double Down: Want her settled on the speed.
Confidence Level:

Malahat (Canterbury Race 6, No. 11)

Talented colt that resumed in very good order last start when narrowly finishing third after settling at the rear of the field.

He was ridden very negatively that day but flew home from the rear to grab third.

He’ll be a lot more prominent in the running here and with the key booking of Hugh Bowman he is sure to improve second up.

Double Down: Want him settled midfield or closer.

Confidence Level:

Missile Coda (Canterbury Race 7, No. 1)

Commanding four and a half length win last start over 1200m at Canterbury.

She jumped straight to the lead and pinched a few lengths turning for home and was never headed from there.

That was an outstanding performance and she looks set to do the same again here.

Blake Shinn stays aboard and if she repeats her last start performance they’ll struggle to keep up with her.

Double Down: Want her leading from the jump.

Confidence Level:

Bolter

World Of Hope (Sandown Race 5, No. 4)

Resumed first up to finish three lengths off the winner at Caulfield in a much harder race than on offer here.

Second up last prep over this course and distance she was narrowly beaten by a head after a luckless run in transit.

She drops sharply in grade to a BM70 over a course and distance she loves.

The Wolf is confident that with clear running in the straight she’ll be able to chase the leaders down and justify the $12.00/$3.50 is over the odds.

Double Down: Want her settled off the speed.
