Wolf’s Racing Guide – Sha Tin 10 September

Wolf’s Best

Gorgeous Again (Sha Tin Race 8, No. 8)

A winner of four from his last seven outings, this gelding from the Danny Shum Yard looks very well placed to kick off his 2017/18 campaign with a win.

He’s yet to win over a distance shorter than 1800m, but he has run a few key placings over 1600m which read well for this.

This is his third run against Class 3 company, but his two placings in this class prior to this suggest he is knocking on the door.

He’s the in form runner here and with Moreira taking the reins, appears the one to beat.

Double Down: Expect him to settle on the speed.

Idyllic Wind (Sha Tin Race 2, No. 6)

Veteran galloper who finds himself a very winnable Class 5 to begin his 2017/18 campaign.

Last season he ran some very honest races and was narrowly beaten on a number of occasions.

Since last season he’s trialled very well and with the key booking of Zac Purton aboard, could prove tough to beat.

Double Down: Want him settled on the speed.

Confidence Level:

Ambitious Heart (Sha Tin Race 3, No. 5)

Gelding from the David Ferraris Yard who finished off last season with a third placing over 1650m at Happy Valley.

He’s since been kept ticking over and he put in a crucial piece of trackwork on Tuesday, galloping over 800m with Purton aboard where he appeared to move very fluently with his ears pricked.

He’s got ability and his recent piece of trackwork suggests he is ready to fire first up.

Zac Purton takes the reins here and The Wolf is confident he’ll go on with things.

Double Down: Want him settled midfield.

Confidence Level:

Star Superior (Sha Tin Race 6, No. 5)

Consistent Gelding from the Michael Chang Stable who has finished second in his last three outings.

His form is very hard to go past and with Moreira taking the reins, gets an excellent chance to score a well deserved win.

The likely danger is Amazing Moment, who makes his debut on the All Weather here after putting in a few solid performances on the turf.

The Wolf is confident that Star Superior’s All Weather Track experience will rise to the top here and he should prove tough to run down.

Double Down: Want him settled midfield.

Confidence Level:

Winner’s Way (Sha Tin Race 7, No. 3)

Predicting a very big day for jockey Zac Purton and it should continue here with Winner’s Way taking out the feature on the card, The Class 1 Kwangtung Handicap Cup.

He finished off his last season with a Class 1 win and a Group 3 placing, all with Zac Purton aboard.

He’s drawn barrier 2 here which is to his advantage, where he should be able to find the lead early.

He’s trialled well in preparation for this; winning over 1200m on the All Weather Track.

The Wolf is confident that with a positive ride from Purton, this son of Starcraft should take beating.

Double Down: Want him in the lead.

Confidence Level:

Pingwu Spark (Sha Tin Race 9, No. 2)

Speedy son of Mastercraftsman who kicked off his Hong Kong campaign last season with a debut second placing over 1200m at Sha Tin.

He couldn’t have been more impressive on debut and a repeat of that performance here suggests he’ll be winning.

Since his debut he’s trialled very well, finishing behind Seasons Bloom and Convincble; both of whom have since come out at Sha Tin and Happy Valley respectively.

The Wolf is confident that his class will rise to the top here and should prove very tough to beat.

Double Down: Want him in the lead.
