Wolf’s Racing Guide – Friday, 5 January

Wolf’s Best

Satirical Magic (Canterbury Race 7, No. 6)

Satirical Magic has won his last two at Canterbury and The Wolf is confident he’ll be able to win his third in a row here.

He’s drawn to get the gun run in barrier 2 and if he’s returned well from his short break he looks the one to beat.

Jason Collett takes the reins which enhances The Wolf’s confidence, as he was able to win on him two starts ago at Canterbury over 1100m.

Recommended Bet: Satirical Magic to WIN.

Captivator (Cranbourne Race 4, No. 4)

Captivator has placed in three starts from six across his career and looks well placed to finally break his maiden with a win here.

Last time out at Sandown he placed third behind Another Flag and El Phoenix; the latter of which most recently broke his maiden at Sandown in good time.

The form around this son of Hinchinbrook is strong and The Wolf expects he’ll be getting the job done here.

Recommended Bet: Captivator to WIN.

Confidence Level:

Vainity (Canterbury Race 3, No. 3)

Vainity impressed on debut for Mark Newnham and The Wolf expects she’ll take running down here.

She sped out to lead last start at Randwick where she finished off nicely, however was run down late by Into The Abyss who looked ultra impressive.

The Wolf expects this to be a hot form race going forward and if Brenton Avdulla can find the lead here she’ll give them something to catch.

Recommended Bet: Vainity to WIN.

Confidence Level:

Atlantic Fox (Canterbury Race 4, No. 5)

Atlantic Fox is undefeated when running third up and The Wolf expects this record to remain intact here.

He put in a very solid performance last start and managed to finish half a length off the winner.

The Wolf is confident that with two runs under his bet, his fitness should be ready to peak third up and get the job done here.

Recommended Bet: Atlantic Fox to WIN.

Confidence Level:

High Opinion (Canterbury Race 8, No. 1)

High Opinion put in an eye-catching performance last start over 1550m at Canterbury and stepping up to 1900m should be a winning move.

Third up last prep he was stepped up to 1900m at Canterbury where he was able to grind out a tough victory and The Wolf is confident the same will happen again here.

He’s the top weight which is always difficult but he’s 1/1 over this course and distance and off his last start placing looks well placed to go on with things here.

Recommended Bet: High Opinion to WIN.
