Wolf’s Greyhound Racing Guide – Sandown Park, 4 January

Wolf’s Best

Flying Sparkles (Sandown Park Race 8, No. 6)

Flying Sparkles has an outstanding record of nine wins from 15 starts and The Wolf is confident she will be notching up her tenth career win here.

She’s posted a 29.51 over this course and distance previously, which on paper should blow this field away.

She has the most upside in the field, and if she can get clear running room down the back straight The Wolf is confident that she will be winning.

Aston Utah (Sandown Park Race 2, No. 2)

Aston Utah has won two from five and with improvement off his last run should be getting the job done here.

He was slow out last start but managed to find the rail, where he was able to kick up inside the speed to find the lead.

He was run down in the final stride that day, however they ran a quick 29.86 and a repeat of that run suggests he’ll be winning here.

Expect he’ll get a nice trail behind the speed runner in Barwell Boy and be able to chase him down late in the race.

Confidence Level:

Hecton Bale (Sandown Park Race 3, No. 1)

Hecton Bale is drawn to repeat his last start victory and The Wolf is confident he will be doing exactly that.

Last start he flew out to win over this course and distance when posting a speedy 34.20 and with clear running should post a faster time.

The Wolf is confident that with the rails run he should be able to lead and take running down from there.

This is his race to lose.

Confidence Level:

Right On Cue (Sandown Park Race 4, No. 7)

Right On Cue was a brilliant 29.89 winner two starts ago and a reproduction of that run here should see him winning.

Last start over this course and distance he jumped from box 8 where he had no luck and found himself travelling three-wide the trip.

His run that day was full of merit as he stuck on well for third and continued chasing hard over the concluding stages.

He’s drawn wide again which makes things difficult but The Wolf suspects he is a talent on the rise that should take running down here.

Confidence Level:

Destroyer (Sandown Park Race 6, No. 5)

Destroyer has speed to burn and whilst he hasn’t won for a while he has placed in four of his last five and another consistent run suggests he will go close here.

He has the early speed to lead which The Wolf expects he’ll do and from there should take beating.

The main danger in the race is Brueghelino; but with box 8 The Wolf is keen to oppose him and stick with Destroyer who has the early pace and soft draw.
