BOOKMAKER William Hill have slashed their odds for the ‘Leave’ vote to win the EU Referendum to $2.70 after London Mayor Boris Johnson entered the fray on the side of those wishing to quit.
William Hill in the UK have also cut Johnson’s odds of becoming the next Tory leader from 4/1 to 5/2 joint favourite with George Osborne – and made him a 9/2 chance to become the next Prime Minister.
“Punters rushed to back the Leave option as soon as Boris confirmed his decision and with 88% of all bets already being for the ‘Leave’ campaign since the date of the Referendum was announced, we’re now expecting that figure to jump to over 90%,” said William Hill spokesman Graham Sharpe.
“Boris is the only politician whose intervention could have swung the odds in this manner.”
