It’s the final round of the Intrust Super Cup with the minor premiership still up for grabs between the Redcliffe Dolphins and Burleigh Bears, while the sixth-placed Souths Logan Magpies could slip out of finals contention with a loss to the Bears and a win by Easts Tigers over the Cutters. Check out all of The Wolf’s selections as we head towards the finals.

CQ Capras v Northern Pride
The Pride are coming off a strong 40-16 win over the fourth-placed PNG Hunters and will be boosted by the return of Ben Spina after he played for the North Queensland Cowboys last week. Meanwhile, it’s been a disappointing season for the Capras, despite a gallant first-half effort against the Redcliffe Dolphins where they trailed 6-0 at halftime before they were trounced 42-0. It’s hard to see the Capras putting up much of a fight against a Pride side who has won 3 of their past 4 matches to finish the season strongly.
Best Bet: Northern Pride -10.5
Redcliffe Dolphins v Tweed Heads Seagulls
It’s hard to see anything but a comfortable Dolphins victory in this one. Adam Mogg’s men are in the box seat to take out the minor premiership and are coming off a 42-0 victory over the Capras. Tweed are on a five-game losing streak and it doesn’t get much tougher than a trip to Dolphin Oval. One of their shining lights in last week’s loss to the Jets, Leivaha Pulu has been named on an extended bench for the Gold Coast Titans and would be a massive loss if he’s a late casualty. Too much on the line for the Dolphins.
Best Bet: Redcliffe -16.5
Wynnum Manly Seagulls v Ipswich Jets
The Wolf is expecting a flat performance by the Seagulls after they blew a 22-10 lead over the Sunshine Coast Falcons that ultimately spelled the end of their finals hopes. It’s been a disappointing season by the Jets after they took out the Intrust Super Cup title last year, but they look the way to go in this clash where pride is the only thing both sides are playing for. One standout for the Jets this season has been centre Nemani Valekapa, who ran for 220 metres and made 11 tackle-breaks. In a tight contest, the Jets with the start is the play.
Best Bet: Ipswich +4.5
Easts Tigers v Mackay Cutters
The Tigers can force their way into the Top 6 with a win over the Cutters and a loss by Souths Logan to Burleigh. Easts won this corresponding clash 26-22 in Round 3 and will be hoping for a similar result. Halfback Brodie Croft scored a double in last week’s loss to the Bears, while the Melbourne Storm-contracted Young Tonumaipea was a standout in a losing side, running for 224 metres and made 13 tackle-breaks. It’s a big game for the Tigers and they should put on a show against the last-placed Cutters.
Best Bet: Easts -13.5
Burleigh Bears v Souths Logan Magpies
It’s unlikely that the Dolphins will slip up against Tweed and hand the Bears the minor premiership with a win over the Magpies, but second spot could be up for grabs if the Blackhawks win and the Bears drop this game. The return of Sam Scarlett has been a massive boost for the Magpies and they’ll need the win to secure their spot in the Top 6 if the Tigers were to win also. The Bears won the corresponding clash 38-32 in Round 6 and The Wolf can see a converted try being the difference once again, making the Magpies with the start the play in this one.
Best Bet: Souths Logan +8.5
Norths Devils v Townsville Blackhawks
Both teams are coming off the Round 24 bye, but it’s the Blackhawks who have more to play for with a potential Top 2 spot on the line. The Blackhawks were comfortable 32-12 winners over the Devils in Round 13 and should be too strong once despite the Devils two-match winning streak. The loss of Jai Arrow to the Brisbane Broncos has been a massive loss for the Devils, while the Blackhawks have one of the best backlines in the competition with Moses Pangai leading the charge.
Best Bet: Townsville -12.5
PNG Hunters v Sunshine Coast Falcons
It’s interesting to note that Eddie Tautali, Curtis Scott, Richard Kennar, Mark Nicholls and Joe Stimson haven’t been named in the Falcons side to travel to PNG with their finals spot cemented. The Hunters are unbeaten at home this season and will have no problem getting past a weakened Falcons side, who could be focussing on the same match-up in the finals in a week’s time.
Best Bet: PNG -7.5
