It’s great to have the footy back!
The Roosters have recruited brilliantly in the the off-season and SBW has brought plenty attention to the club. He has been named on the bench but if he plays remains to be seen.
I’m liking the Rabbitohs forward pack and I’m expecting Greg Inglis to put in a big one and get the Bunnies home.
Tip – Rabbitohs
This could be a tough trip for the Sea Eagles with a very different forward pack than what ran out in 2012.
No Glenn Stewart, no Jason King and the loss of Tony Williams to the Bulldogs will put plenty of pressure on the Eagles pack against an impressive Broncos forward pack.
Brisbane are always tough at home and I’m making them my best bet in Round 1.
Tip – Broncos
The Warriors look great value this weekend and the $2.10 with William Hill Australia looks like a great bet.
Parramatta had an ordinary 2012 and I can’t see many threats in their backline other than Jarryd Hayne.
Warriors forward pack will be very difficult to stop and I’m all over them at that price.
Tip – Warriors
The side the Cowboys have named for Round 1 looks very impressive and a bench of the Sims brothers will add plenty of impact.
The Bulldogs have too many key players out including Ben Barba, James Graham and Frank Pritchard.
I’m expecting a big year from Thurston and expect him to direct his side to victory in this one.
Tip – Cowboys
The bookies have this game right and it really is a toss of the coin.
The Panthers have lost arguably their three best players in Lewis, Gordon and Jennings but I’m expecting the new recruits to come out all guns blazing.
A tough one to call but will stick with the home side.
Tip – Panthers
The travel to England for the World Club Challenge could be a factor for the Storm if they were playing anyone other than the Dragons.
I haven’t been overly impressed with the Dragons pre-season form so think the Storm will win but would be taking the Dragons with a big start.
For those people playing NRL Last Man Standing be very careful if you’re taking the Storm.
Tip – Storm
The Knights have recruited well and a fit Kurt Gidley is almost like a new signing.
The Tigers will be looking for an improved 2013 but a trip to Newcastle is a tough way to kick off the season.
Expecting the Knights to get the job done but it could be close.
Tip – Knights
Best Bet – Broncos
