The Wolf has highlighted his best player specials for the NRL Grand Final between the Melbourne Storm and North Queensland Cowboys.
|Group A – Most Run Metres||Antonio Winterstein ($3.60)|
|Group B – Most Run Metres||Scott Bolton ($2.80)|
|Group C – Most Run Metres||Will Chambers ($3.20)|
|Group A – Most Tackles Made||Cameron Smith ($2.90)|
|Group B – Most Tackles Made||Felise Kaufusi ($3.40)|
|Group C – Most Tackles Made||Cameron Munster ($2.90)|
Group A – Most Run Metres
Antonio Winterstein has averaged 17 runs for 146 metres during the finals series and has recorded 150+ metres in three of his last five matches. The Storm will kick early and force him to do plenty of work from his own goal-line. Josh Addo Carr is the obvious danger, averaging 137.7 run metres this season and made 178 metres and scored 2 tries in the Storm’s Round 22 win over the Cowboys. Winterstein looks the value play here.
Best Bet: Antonio Winterstein ($3.60)
Group B – Most Run Metres
Scott Bolton is The Wolf’s top pick in this group. Jesse Bromwich’s minutes have been reduced this year, while Tohu Harris and Ethan Lowe won’t have as many runs out on the fringes as Bolton will in the middle of the field. Bolton has averaged 156.3 metres in the Cowboys three matches during this finals series and has averaged 133.7 run metres for the season. It’s been a strong finals series from Bolton and his good form should continue in the grand final.
Best Bet: Scott Bolton ($2.80)
Group C – Most Run Metres
Chambers has the highest average runs (14.4) of the players in this group (Curtis Scott, Justin O’Neill and Kane Linnett) and averages 127.1 run metres for the season. Chambers had 19 runs for 190 metres and scored a try in the Storm’s 26-8 win over the Cowboys in Round 22.
Best Bet: Will Chambers ($3.20)
Group A – Most Tackles Made
Cameron Smith is the clear choice in this group. Jake Granville and Scott Bolton are unlikely to play 80 minutes, while Tohu Harris won’t get as much work out on the fringe. Smith made a massive 73 tackles in last year’s grand final loss to the Sharks after averaging 42.9 tackles in the 2016 season, and will lift for the big occasion once again.
Best Bet: Cameron Smith ($2.90)
Group B – Most Tackles Made
Dale Finucane would be The Wolf’s top pick here if it was guaranteed that he would play 80 minutes in the grand final. Finucane played just 44 minutes against the Broncos in the Preliminary Final, but made 30 tackles in his stint on the field. The Wolf is going with Felise Kaufusi, who is an 80 minute player and is sure to make plenty of tackles if the Cowboys can maintain their strong completion rate. Kaufusi averages 33.1 tackles for this year, while both Gavin Cooper (30.3) and Ethan Lowe (29.6) had a lower season tackle average.
Best Bet: Felise Kaufusi ($3.40)
Group C – Most Tackles Made
The Wolf is a huge Cameron Munster fan and is tipping him to take out the Clive Churchill Medal as well. Munster averages 19.3 tackles for the season, but has topped his season average in both of the Storm’s finals game. He made 22 tackles in the Storm’s Qualifying Final win over the Eels and made 27 tackles in the Preliminary Final victory over the Broncos. Munster’s 27 tackles against the Broncos was his third highest tackle tally of the season.
Best Bet: Cameron Munster ($2.90)
