Behind The Curtains: Round 21

All the gossip and rumours from every NRL club.

Brisbane Broncos
Lachlan Maranta and Jordan Kahu are set to be moved on by the Broncos at the end of the season. Coach Wayne Bennett has been less than impressed by them this season.

Canberra Raiders
Shaun Fensom will leave the Raiders at the end of the season despite suggestions he is part of Ricky Stuart’s 2017 plans. Fensom has plenty of suitors with the Rabbitohs the favourites to snare him.

Canterbury Bulldogs
Canterbury’s poor kicking game this season has Des Hasler on the lookout for a half with a strong kick. Kieran Foran is on the cards but the club will search far and wide.

Cronulla Sharks
Chris Heighington will leave Cronulla at the end of the season and it looks likely that he will return to his former club the Wests Tigers.

Gold Coast Titans
Josh Hoffman is set to leave the Titans at the end of the season to join St Helens. Hoffman has been playing in career best form over the last month.

Manly Sea Eagles
Brett Stewart will not play another game for Manly. Stewart has gone for season-ending knee surgery and Tom Trbojevic has been scintillating since moving into the No.1 jersey.

Melbourne Storm
Jamal Idris is a player who could pop up on Craig Bellamy’s radar. An undoubted talent, Idris is looking to return to the NRL and Melbourne have expressed interest in him previously.

Newcastle Knights
The Knights remain in hot pursuit of Cronulla forward Luke Lewis. The club is desperate for a classy veteran to replace the retiring Jeremy Smith.

North Queensland Cowboys
Johnathan Thurston will miss at least two weeks for the Cowboys after straining his hamstring against Canterbury. The club will take no chances with him.

Parramatta Eels
Corey Norman appears set to re-sign with the Eels despite a strong offer from the Dragons. Norman will ink a three-year deal that will be signed this week.

Penrith Panthers
According to the NRL Lurker, Phil Gould is the man devising Penrith’s game-plan, not coach Anthony Griffin. Griffin appears to have been hired as a front-man for Gould.

NRL Round 21 Odds

St George Illawarra Dragons
The Saints are likely to use the recent indiscretions of Tim Lafai and Silvia Havili to dump them from the club. The club is in a rebuild and will welcome the opportunity to clear the books.

South Sydney Rabbitohs
Shane Richardson is set to clean house at season’s end. He is looking to offload a number of players including Aaron Gray, Jason Clark, Dave Tyrell, Kyle Turner and Tom Burgess, if suitors can be found.

Sydney Roosters
The Roosters are set ti strip Jake Friend of the captaincy and replace him with Boyd Cordner, perhaps as soon as this week. The club have been disappointed in Friend’s performance this year.

Wests Tigers
The Tigers may not have yet lost Josh Addo-Carr to the Storm with the two clubs in talks about a release. Jason Taylor is doing the club no favours by leaving him in NSW Cup.
