Behind The Curtains: Round 20

All the gossip and rumours from every NRL club.

Brisbane Broncos
Jordan Kahu looks set to miss an extended period after the unlucky back suffered another injury against the Rabbitohs. Kahu has been one of the unluckiest players in the NRL.

Canberra Raiders
Canberra’s English raid is far from over despite signing St Helens journeyman Jordan Turner last week. A big-name English backrower is on the verge of signing with Canberra.

Canterbury Bulldogs
The Bulldogs have emerged as favourites to sign beleaguered half Kieran Foran. The Bulldogs are the club most likely to get a contract registered with the NRL now too as one of the power clubs in the game.

Cronulla Sharks
Leigh Centurions are the latest club to have expressed interest in half Nu Brown, following overtures from the Melbourne Storm. Leigh have lost just one game in the Championship this year and have designs on joining Super League for the first time.

Gold Coast Titans
Forward depth is the top priority for Neil Henry and it has seen the Titans join the race for promising Broncos forward Jarrod Wallace. The Cowboys are also in the hunt for the Broncos bookend.

Manly Sea Eagles
Feleti Mateo is set to be released to play in England and it could happen as soon as this week with the London Broncos reportedly interesting in signing the talented if inconsistent forward.

Melbourne Storm
Don’t be shocked to see Paul Carter end up in Melbourne next year. A talented and versatile player, Carter is a project Craig Bellamy could get the best out of.

Newcastle Knights
Greg Bird is set to return to his hometown Newcastle Knights as he looks for one last payday before retirement. Bird has been in good form and will bring some much-needed toughness to the Knights.

NRL Round 20 Odds

New Zealand Warriors
The Warriors have made a cheeky bid to lure Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan across the ditch. Andrew McFadden is almost certain to be moved on and the Warriors are after a classy coach with disciplinarian tendencies.

North Queensland Cowboys
The Cowboys are close to inking the signature of Jordan McLean as a replacement for the departing James Tamou. McLean has had a great year for the Storm.

Parramatta Eels
The NRL are set to monitor Parramatta’s punishment of Corey Norman extremely closely. Norman was suspended last week for pleading guilty in court last week but not length was handed down.

Penrith Panthers
Zak Hardaker’s time at Penrith has not been long but he already seems to be on the outs. Having started just one match, Hardaker was relegated to the bench against the Eels and didn’t take the field during the four-point win.

NRL Round 20 Odds

St George Illawarra Dragons
Jackson Hastings is on the verge of returning to the Dragons. Hastings is on the outer at the Roosters and the Saints are desperate to boost their halves stocks.

South Sydney Rabbitohs
Shaun Fensom has emerged as one of South Sydney’s prime targets for 2017. Fensom will leave the Raiders and have no end of suitors.

Sydney Roosters
The Sydney Roosters are set to lose Jayden Nikorima back to Brisbane at season’s end. Nikorima got an early crack in the halves but struggled and will return to Wayne Bennett’s tutelage.

Wests Tigers
Hooker Robbie Farah could leave at season’s end with the rake believed to be in negotiations with rivals St George Illawarra. Farah’s move to the Dragons though will be entirely dependent on whether the Saints stick with under-fire coach Paul McGregor.
