Behind The Curtains: Finals Week 4
All the gossip and rumours from every NRL club.
Parramatta tryscoring sensation Semi Radradra has reportedly been in contact with Brisbane coach Wayne Bennett about a switch to the Broncos. Bennett is fed up with Brisbane’s current thinness in the outside backs.
Behemoth forward Paul Vaughan will leave the Raiders for more opportunity next season. Cronulla are favourites for his signature though the Dragons, Knights and Tigers are all in the mix.
Speculation is rife that Canterbury will move on from chief executive Raelene Castle in the coming weeks. Board members are pinning some poor recruitment issues on her.
The Sharks will not get Damien Cook to wear the No.9 jersey next season with Souths knocking back a release request. Mitch Rein remains a possibility though the Eels are favoured to sign him.
Gold Coast Titans
The Titans are going hard for Melbourne forward Kevin Proctor as a replacement for Greg Bird. Proctor is one of the most feared and skilful edge runners in the NRL.
Manly Sea Eagles
The Sea Eagles have failed to land a big-name over the offseason despite having plenty of cash to splash and are now looking at Todd Carney. The lack of a recognised No.6 this season hurt Manly immensely.
Sunshine Coast half Riley Jacks has signed with Melbourne and played well enough for the Falcons this year
Former Knights half Luke Walsh is set to return to the club in 2017. Walsh has done a great job at St Helens and will provide some much-needed veteran experience to Newcastle.
New Zealand Warriors
Kieran Foran may have signed with the Warriors but he is far from certain to join the club. A clause reportedly exists that will nullify the deal if he isn’t cleared by December.
North Queensland Cowboys
The most ridiculous rumour doing the rounds is that Jason Taumalolo is considering a switch to the NFL. He won’t be leaving Townsville.
The Eels continue to sniff around Souths halfback Adam Reynolds. The Eels are set to make a big play for the Blues No.7.
Backup utility Will Smith is set to depart the foot of the mountains for the holiday strip. Smith will be used as a backline backup for the Titans.
St George Illawarra Dragons
St George Illawarra have pinpointed Luke Douglas as the man to solve their forward woes. The Dragons have regularly been beaten in the forwards and could desperately use Douglas’ toughness.
South Sydney Rabbitohs
Jamal Idris is all but a done deal at South Sydney. The Rabbitohs are desperate for some punch out wide and are willing to take a chance on the former international.
The Sydney Roosters are prepared to sell the farm to free James Tedesco from the grip of the Wests Tigers. Tedesco is the most talented young player in the game
The Wests Tigers are close to signing out-of-favour Canterbury rake Michael Lichaa. Lichaa will join local hope Jacob Liddle and journeyman Matt McIllwrick as the club’s hookers next season.
