Kilmore Race 2 No.11 Sandrelli – $1.60
Sandrelli started well in the market at all three starts in her first campaign and ran encouragingly each time without ever really worrying the winners. No doubt she would have improved since then after a good break and she reappears here against older maidens, but gets in nicely under the set weight conditions and most of her opposition here is extremely limited. Think once this daughter of Street Cry gets one under her belt, we may see her string a few together as she goes through the grades and she’ll start by being too good here.
Moonee Valley Race 7 No.7 Margin Trader – $7
Now that he’s up to a genuine staying trip we are beginning to see the best of Margin Trader and this looks a great progression for him now. The stoutly bred son of Tavistock showed plenty of ticker last start to win and it seems as though that is his best go – get rolling early and try and out-stay his rivals. Most of his rivals for this are either on the back end of their career or have little upside to come whereas you get the feeling this guy still has plenty to offer and could be headed for better races than this. Oliver a big plus also.
Grafton Race 5 No.9 Street Serenade – $4.80
Street Serenade comes out of one of the hottest form maidens of recent times – it was the race won by very smart three year old Quatronic at Grafton almost three weeks ago. Quatronic has since come out and blitzed a handy field last Saturday at Doomben and looks a potential stakes class galloper. Then at Coffs Harbour on Monday, Lippy And Pearls and Ministry Of Fear, who ran second and third behind Quatronic in that maiden, both won their first career starts and both did it in comprehensive fashion. Street Serenade ran on nicely for fifth in the race and now lines up against a field with zero depth and very little form to speak of. He only has to repeat that performance to be winning this and looks a good thing based on what’s happened since his last start.
Moruya Race 4 No.6 Marquee – $4.40
After a campaign that saw him race very consistently right throughout it, Marquee returned to the track for a first up tilt at a Highway Handicap at Randwick and was simply outclassed and outsped. He now comes back to a much easier race, goes up slightly in trip and finds a field without much form to speak of outside of probable favourite Slick Speed and recent Moruya Town Plate winner No Luck Needed. He gets a couple of kilos off those two and draws inside both – at the odds like him to knock both of them over.
Moonee Valley Race 6 No.9 Super Cash – $6
Very good race for the three year old fillies but we’ve seen Super Cash already be competitive with some of the better sprinters of her age and sex. It’s quite evident this filly has a really good turn of foot and it’s going take her a long way this time in, and connections will be hoping that starts here with a black type win. They tried her up to a mile last campaign and she tried hard when 7th in the Thousand Guineas, but sprinting will be her caper, and this race sets up nicely for her as she draws well and won’t have to get too far back. On top of that she trialled lovely at Cranbourne behind group one winner Pasadena Girl.
