Wolf’s Best
Randwick Race 4, No.5 Heavens Above
Heavens Above got the confidence booster she needed last start. She’s a very talented mare and her record of two from 11 doesn’t do her justice. She was poorly ridden on three occasions before Tye Angland jumped aboard and got the job done. Tim Martin has gone with another senior jockey here and with the rail in the true, it should be no disadvantage to come out wide with a late sweeping run.

Circuit Bets
Randwick Race 1, No.3 Honesty Prevails
Hammered he rivals in the Widden Stakes on debut, displaying a brilliant turn of speed. Should be winning the Reisling Stakes too as the field here is very moderate. In fact, it’s probably easier than the field she met at her first outing. Top filly who looks as good a bet at Press Statement in the Guineas – and you’re getting close to even money.

Flemington Race 6, No.11 Bullpit
The market looks to have severely underestimated this horse’s chances here. He’s double the odds of Headwater and there was nothing between them last start. He’s flying at the moment, turning in two career best efforts. Has had a tickover jumpout since and looked very sharp.

Flemington Race 9, No.8 Divan
Was excellent first-up after covering ground to run second to the flying Dan Zephyr. Jumps straight out to 1800m and the booking of Damien Oliver suggests the Williams camp mean business second-up. Drawn to get a midfield smother before rounding up his rivals (and there are plenty of them!). The four-year-old son of Zabeel looks destined to mature into a Group class middle distance horse.

Bolter
Flemington Race 3, No.1 Afleet Esprit
Estaminet is a short-priced favourite again but Afleet Esprit had no luck behind her last start and was first-up so can only improve with the run. She won a similar race second-up last campaign and gets the services of Ollie here. Prior to her fresh run she was jumping out nicely. The Wolf will be on Afleet at the $9 and taking the quinella with the favourite.

Todman Stakes (Randwick)
Only a field of four now. Capitalist has done nothing wrong in his three starts but two were in restricted company. He needs to stand up and announce himself a genuine threat to the Blue Diamond quinella after they raised the benchmark. Loved his recent trial against older horses. Godolphin’s Tessera won’t go down without a fight but Capitalist should be able to stalk him and Kiss And Make Up before pouncing late. Weatherly has some x-factor but he’s far from the finished product.
