Wolf’s Racing Guide – Thursday, 22 February

The Wolf’s Racing Guide had an absolute fill-up yesterday going 4 from 6! He found winners paying $13, $10, $3.00 and $2.30. He has cast his eye over the fields for Thursday and has singled out a few great bets from Warrnambool, Gosford, Wagga and Townsville.

Wolf’s Best

All Well (Warrnambool Race 5, No.1)

All Well was nearly a good thing beaten last start, being held up for the majority of the straight before Braidon Small drove him along the inside to get up and score in the last stride over this track and distance. Realistically he should have won by two or three lengths. The six year old should have further improvement in him off that run, and he is drawn to get the run of the race just behind the speed from barrier one.

Circuit Bets

Arthur Porrit (Wagga Race 2, No.2)

Arthur Porrit has gone close to breaking his maiden status on several occasions but this is easily the weakest race he has contested, so today looks the day. He comes off a last start fourth at Albury in what has proven to be a good form race and he tuned up for this with a dominant trial win at Wodonga last week. Jake Duffy will take him straight to the front from the wide draw and there doesn’t look to be anything in the field with enough ability to run him down.

Medieval (Townsville Race 4, No.2)

Medieval should be at peak fitness now, his fourth run back from a spell. His last two runs have come on heavy ground and he will be much better suited on a firmer surface. As this race is run under set weight conditions, he comes in particularly well at the weights – if this were a handicap he would be asked to concede every rival 5Kg, instead he meets his key dangers on the same weight. He should be getting the money today.

Recommended Price: $2.25

Bolter

Aquastar (Warrnambool Race 3, No.3)

Aquastar comes here off a debut seventh of eight at Sandown but there is good reason to suggest he can improve here. That debut race looks an exceptionally strong form race despite the small field, and he overraced and otherwise showed his greenness throughout. Weiry wouldn’t have sent him to make his debut at Sandown if he didn’t think he had a good deal of talent and back in class today, he can go close at big odds.

Recommended Price: $16/4.50
