Wolf’s Hong Kong International Racing Guide – Sha Tin, 10 December

Wolf’s Best

Bravo Watchman (Sha Tin Race 2, No. 3)

A winner of three from five in Hong Kong who should return to the Winner’s Stall with a victory here.

His last two starts he’s narrowly placed second, but both runs have been full of merit and The Wolf is confident that if he runs up to either of those performances he’ll take beating here.

Expect Moreira to settle him just behind the speed and peel out late to score over a course and distance he loves.

Recommended Bet: Bravo Watchman to WIN.

Nothingilikemore (Sha Tin Race 3, No. 6)

Undefeated in five career starts in Hong Kong who looks well placed to make it six in a row with a win here.

He steps up from Class 2 to Class 1 which is always difficult, but he’s responded to every challenge with ease and against a relatively small field there appears to be only one main danger in Souther Legend who will make him earn it, but The Wolf is keen to side with the obvious choice; the undefeated Nothingilikemore.

His last start he responded when asked by the rider, and went on to put them away by just over two lengths and The Wolf is expecting a very similar performance from him here.

Recommended Bet: Nothingilikemore to WIN.

Top Beautiful (Sha Tin Race 9, No. 11)

Chris So trained galloper who is yet to run outside of the top three since commencing his career in Hong Kong.

He kicked off his 2017/18 campaign in style, with two outstanding wins in Class 4 and Class 3 respectively, however since then has been narrowly beaten on two occasions.

Moreira remains on board which adds confidence and The Wolf expecting he’ll use the inside barrier to settle on the speed.

He can return to the Winner’s Stall here with another consistent performance, especially against a field with form as patchy as what some of these runners bring.

Recommended Bet: Top Beautiful to WIN.

Confidence Level:

Rattan (Sha Tin Race 10, No. 12)

Unbeaten in three races for the 2017/18 season who faces his toughest to date here against a quality field of Class 2 gallopers.

His last start win was enormous, where he circled the field and came from the rear to run over the top of them.

He was an eye-catcher that day and if he runs up to that performance here he’ll score a winning debut in Class 2.

Recommended Bet: Rattan to WIN.

Confidence Level:

Hong Kong Vase

Talismanic (Sha Tin Race 4, No. 2)

Breeders’ Cup Turf Winner who should be able to take advantage of the inside draw and camp in just behind the speed runners.

Highland Reel is the likely leader who has his final career start, but The Wolf isn’t expecting a fairy-tale finish for him, as Talismanic safely held him to the line in the Breeders’ Cup Turf over 2400m and The Wolf is confident the same will occur here.

Talismanic maps to get a saving ground run on the rails in this which should ensure he has enough left in the tank to blow this field away.

Recommended Bet: Talismanic to WIN.

Confidence Level:

Hong Kong Sprint

Lucky Bubbles (Sha Tin Race 5, No. 2)

Lucky Bubbles was awfully unlucky last start in the Jockey Club Sprint and The Wolf is confident he can atone for that performance with a win here.

He couldn’t get clear air in the straight last time out which resulted in him finishing ninth and not even participating in the race at all.

Hugh Bowman is already a Group 1 winner aboard this galloper and The Wolf is confident they can team up again here to take out the Group 1 Hong Kong Sprint.

Recommended Bet: Lucky Bubbles to WIN.

Confidence Level:

Hong Kong Mile

Beauty Generation (Sha Tin Race 7, No. 10)

Group 2 and 3 winner this season who should find the lead early and give them something to run down.

He’s been ultra consistent this prep and The Wolf has a very strong feeling this galloper could give jockey Derek Leung his biggest win to date.

Last start he was forced to engage in a speed battle, which took away from his finish resulting in a third placing over this course and distance.

He’ll have to do a lot of work early but The Wolf is confident he will find an early lead and from there should take running down.

Recommended Bet: Beauty Generation to WIN.

Confidence Level:

Hong Kong Cup

Werther (Sha Tin Race 8, No. 4)

Group 1 Hong Kong Derby winner who is looking to win his fifth Group 1 race by taking out the Hong Kong Cup.

Last start he won the Group 2 Jockey Club Cup and The Wolf expects he’ll be cherry ripe for this, especially being third up.

He was forced to earn it last start but when he knuckled down in the final stages his class got him over the line.

He’s Hong Kong’s best middle distance galloper and The Wolf is expecting the cream to rise to the top here and for Werther to be a dominant victor in The Group 1 Hong Kong Cup.

Recommended Bet: Werther to WIN.
