We head to Flemington & Randwick this week where The Wolf has cast his eye and found a few very nice bets. His best bet placed in the Group 1 Surround Stakes last start and with luck he expects she’ll be hard to beat.

Shumookh placed in the Group 1 Surround Stakes last start and if she has come on from that run she’ll get the job done here. She jumped and led that day at Randwick only to be run down late by Shoals; who was already a G1 winner in her own right having won the Myer Classic last prep at Flemington. This is by far and away the best form reference heading into this and if she can handle the rise in distance she’ll take beating.
Recommended Price: $2.70
Hear The Chant won well last start up the straight at Flemington and The Wolf is expecting a repeat of that performance here. She beat home Fragonard last start which is a very good form reference for this and The Wolf is expecting an improved run second up here. Andrew Mallyon takes the reins which enhances The Wolf’s confidence and he is expecting she will go home the winner.
Recommended Price: $2.90
Overshare won the Group 3 Zeditave Stakes last start and The Wolf is expecting another win to come here. Prior to his win in the Group 3 he placed behind Cliff’s Edge, who The Wolf expects would be a very short priced favourite to win here. He’s drawn well in barrier 1 where Dwayne should look to settle him somewhere near the speed before giving chase in the straight.
Recommended Price: $5.50
Tom Melbourne is a serial non-winner, but if he runs up to his best performance here he could final breakthrough. Last prep he placed on six occasions, including three times at Group 1 level and if he can run up to any of these benchmarks here he will take beating. He’s trialled well in preparation for this and with Blake Shinn aboard gets an excellent chance to finally breakthrough.
Recommended Price: $4.80
Get On The Grange has been ultra-consistent this prep without winning and The Wolf is expecting he’ll earn a well-deserved win here. He’s placed in four of his last five races including a narrow second to Emperor’s Way; who has since won two more races including the Listed Randwick City Stakes. Get On The Grange only needs to find his best to win and The Wolf is confident he will do exactly that.
Recommended Price: $14/$3.50
Latin Boy won well first up at Newcastle and if he has come on from that he’ll give this field a run for their money. He holds a very good record of five wins from twelve starts and has really built a strong association with rider Shaun Guymer – who has been aboard for all of his wins. He drops 7.5kg off last start and The Wolf is confident that at $11/$3.40 he represents great each way value.
Recommended Price: $11/$3.40
Big Pat’s Pontiac has hit a purple patch of form of late; having won two from four and placing in two others. He was an eye-catcher from the rear of the field last start at Flemington and had he settled much closer in the run he would have been in the finish. He’s drawn well in barrier 2 where Mertens should look to sit midfield with cover before peeling out in the straight.
Recommended Price: $10/$3.25
