Wolf’s Racing Guide – Monday, 23 April

The Wolf is back with his daily Racing Guide and today heads to Echuca and Taree. He has declared his best and also found us some value later in the day.

Wolf’s Best

La Pont (Taree Race 5, No. 1 )
Should have been two from two in his first campaign but managed to earn his maiden win after just missing out on debut. Has been quietly ridden in two trials and steps out to the 1000m mark which should suit. Out of a Myboycharlie, he is bred to handle the wet and the favourable conditions will suit him to a tee. He is the one bet you should be having on Monday.

Circuit Bets

Melba’s Maestro (Echuca Race 6, No. 1)
Posted back to back wins at Wangaratta and Geelong before just missing out last start after blowing the start and giving them 10 lengths. Absolutely stormed home that day and did it with 62kg on his back. Carries weight well and is a genuine mile horse. Has the ability to take it to Bella Mia (favourite) who is a perennial runner up. She has placed in 10 of 13 starts for just the one win!

Recommended Price: $4.20

Second Step (Taree  Race 6, No. 4)
This mare is set to make a real statement in her return to the track. Was competitive in town last time out and after a lengthy layoff looked very good at the trials a fortnight ago. Has a proven first up record as indicated by last prep where she bolted in by some margin when forced to carry in excess of 60kg. Drawn to get the gun run and will go straight to the front where she will not be headed.

Recommended Price: $2.25

Happens Nomore (Taree Race 3, No. 5)
Seems to be flying under the radar after consecutive 4th place finishes to start his prep. Drew the awkward inside barrier on both occasions and found it difficult to weave through the traffic. Handled a soft track on debut and should eat through the ground late to post his maiden win.

Recommended Price: $3.90

Bolter

Hard Spark (Echuca Race 7, No. 5)
Should not be paying this price. Feels like she is running around every week and is more than capable of springing an upset – especially at Echuca. Has placed in all 6 runs at this track including multiple wins. Faded late in her first up run but that is not surprise as she has never made an impression first up – using it more as a trial than anything else. Will strip fitter and be given every chance by Harry Coffey.
