Wolf’s Newmarket July Festival Racing Guide – Day 3

The Wolf is off to Newmarket for Day 3 of their famous July Festival. The third and final day of racing is upon us where the Hayes/Dabernig trained Redkirk Warrior will do battle with Blue Point in the Group 1 July Cup.

Wolf’s Best

Superlative Stakes (Group 2) (1408m)
Quorto (Newmarket Race 1, No. 7)

Quorto scored a very impressive win on debut at this track and off that looks well placed to notch up his second win in as many starts. Very hard to not be impressed by that performance and with Buick aboard he shapes as the one they have to beat. Early support suggests The Wolf isn’t the only admirer. Expect Quorto to kick off what could be, a very big day for Godolphin.

Circuit Bets

Bunbury Cup Handicap (Class 2) (1408m)
Mubtasim (Newmarket Race 2, No. 3)

Tough Class 2 on offer here but at the price Mubtasim appeals. He closed well last start at Haydock Park and has placed in a Group 3 at Ascot when third up previously. He’s nearing a win and with Donnacha O’Brien on he’ll get every chance. Expect he’ll be competitive in this and at the price he appeals on an each way basis.

Recommended Price: $9/$3

Darley July Cup Stakes (Group 1) (1207m)
Blue Point (Newmarket Race 3, No. 1)

Blue Point was extraordinary in the King’s Stand last start and if he replicates that performance here he’ll prove very hard to beat. He fought on gamely that day to score ahead of Battaash, which is a more than strong enough form reference to be winning this. He’s no stranger to winning Group 1’s and The Wolf is confident he will be adding another one to his trophy cabinet here.

Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (Class 3) (1408m)
Assembly Of Truth (Newmarket Race 4, No. 1)

The boys in blue are expected to have a massive Saturday at Newmarket and their success should continue here with Assembly Of Truth. She closed well at Yarmouth last start to finish third and should be much better for this with the extra furlong on offer here. Buick takes the reins again suits and with luck she’ll be going home the winner.

Recommended Price: $3.80

Handicap (Class 2) (1609m)
Curiosity (Newmarket Race 5, No. 2)

Curiosity has placed second in his last two starts and The Wolf is confident that it will be third time lucky for him here. He’s crafted an impressive record of two wins from seven and arguably could have won a few more. He’s consistent as ever and with Mosse engaged to ride he shapes as the one to beat.

Recommended Price: $4.60

Fillies’ Handicap (Class 2) (1408m)
Amandine (Newmarket Race 6, No. 7)

Amandine scored a very impressive win last start at Leicester and if she repeats that run here she’ll be competitive. She gets in with the light weight for this and is expected to run a bolter of a race. She’s consistent and with the inside draw she’ll get every chance.

Saeed Suhail Saeed Handicap (Class 2) (2414m)
Sporting Times (Newmarket Race 7, No. 2)

Sporting Times ran improved race last start at Kempton on the All-Weather track and with luck could go very close in this. Tough race to round out the card but his placing last start rates very well for this. The rise in distance suits and with two runs under his belt already he appears fit enough to fly.
