The Wolf’s Jumps Guide: Casterton

Race 1 – Maiden Hurdle: No.2 Berning Desire ($7.50)
Tremec is a well deserving favourite here but the $1.32 here is too short for The Wolf. He is scouting wide here and has found an each-way special in Berning Desire. He ran a good race on his jumps debut behind the smart I’ll’ava’alf and will only take improvement out of that run. The heavy 10 won’t be a problem either.

Race 2 – BM120 Hurdle: No.2 Slowpoke Rodriguez ($4.80)
The mighty Slowpoke Rodriguez just got too far back at Gawler last start and never looked a winning chance in what was a shocking ride by Richard Cully. He has been sacked here with Steve Pateman, who rode him to his last jumps win, back on board. Slowpoke Rodriguez is in great form with a huge flat win two runs back. Fourth-up now he will be close to peak fitness. Looks the one.

Race 4 – BM120 Steeplechase: No.5 I’ll’ava’alf ($1.28)
I’ll’ava’alf is the obvious choice with the scratching of the impressive Zed Em and should salute at the short odds. He bolted in by 13 lengths at Warrnambool last start and won’t face much competition here. Only bad luck stops him.

Best: No.2 Slowpoke Rodriguez
No.2 Berning Desire
