There’s been some good money for the 3yo’s in this year’s Doncaster, in particular Torio’s Quest. While the Oratorio’s haven’t set the world on fire in Australia yet but they give every impression that as 3yo’s over distances beyond 1200 metres they could well come into their own.
Below is a press release from William Hill Australia –
Magic Millions 3yo winner, Torio’s Quest, has been backed to win over $400,000 with William Hill Australia to take out the Doncaster Mile.
William Hill Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said the Brett Partelle trained gelding had shortened from $61 to $26 on the back of some huge bets.
“We took one bet of $300,000 to $5000 each way plus there have been other punters back him to win $30,000 and $20,000,” Sullivan said.
“His win in the Magic Millions was outstanding after getting back from a terrible draw and making tremendous ground on a track that suited the front runners.
“That win certainly gave every indication the step up to the mile would suit and he looks to be one of a number of three year olds with a genuine chance in the Doncaster.”
Hobartville winner Ilovethiscity has also shortened from $41 to $18 following his impressive win on Saturday.
“There had been some good money for Ilovethiscity to win the Doncaster before the weekend at $41 and the money has kept coming since then too,” Sullivan said.
More Joyous retains favouritsm for the Doncaster at $4.00 with William Hill following her win in the Futurity ahead of Whobegotyou at $8.00.
