Friday Harness Racing Guide
Wolf’s Best Bet
Melton Race 4, No. 7 Zhenya
She is a more than handy trotting mare and looks the class runner in this race. The Wolf says she is the one to beat on recent efforts and tonight’s race is a class drop on recent races. On times and class assessment she looks the winner.
Wagga Race 2, No. 2 Mandalay Rose
She resumed last start with an impressive second placing after a 10 month break from the track. Tonight from gate two she should cross to the lead and The Wolf expects her to be winning over the sprint trip.
Port Pirie Race 1, No. 10 Nevabendrules
He resumes tonight from a 14 month lay off and although he doesn’t have any trial form he looked a very smart horse last time in and from the bad draw The Wolf expects him to be off on a mid-race move and should be too good for this field.
Port Pirie Race 5, No. 6 Alldaybliss
Last start he worked home well from back in the field and got held up close to the finish line but The Wolf likes his form before that run where he had been racing against Rap Artist and did compete in the G2 Southern Cross Series final. This race looks a much easier task and with the right run in transit he can go close.
Melton Race 8, No. 10 Arber
He is getting older but in this grade he is always a chance and despite the backrow draw if he can get the right run into the race, he is a great each-way chance at huge odds. Last start he was only beaten four metres in a fast run race at Melton and he made good late ground in the run.
Wolf’s Back Breaker
Gloucester Park Race 1, No. 1 Nowuseemegirl
This filly has won four of her past five race starts and tonight from the pole looks the leader again but The Wolf notes that she is facing a sharp rise in class and over the middle distance she looks vulnerable. Do not go near the short odds.
Feature Race Betting
Breeders Crown Graduate Pacers Free For All Group 2 (Melton)
Hector Jay Jay has a backrow draw but he is airborne at the moment winning in super time last start and as the odds suggest, he is the hardest to beat despite the bad draw. Flaming Flutter ran on resolutely last time at his second start back from a spell and tonight should get a good run through the field to charge late. Chilli Palmer has a wide gate to overcome but he is racing well and got close to Hector Jay Jay last start when held up at a vital stage. All Eyes On Us and Jilliby Jagger are exotic plays.
Westralian August Cup Mobile Pace (Gloucester Park)
From the draw Libertybelle Midfrew, should be able to hold the lead and she did win an Inter Dominion heat last summer. Bettors Fire produced a sensational run first-up when coming from well back in the field in a fast last sectional. He should be closer in the run from his draw. El Machine maps to tag Libertybelle Midfrew and will be stalking her every move. Run Oneover has a terrible draw but he has the class to win with luck.
