Wolf’s Group 1 Greyhound Guide – Sat 21st April

Wolf’s Group 1 Greyhound Guide – Saturday, 21 April

The Wolf has analysed the two Group 1 races at Cannington this Saturday – The Galaxy & The Perth Cup! The Wolf is confident the favourites will fair well and believes there is some value to be had for exotic players as well.

Cannington Race 5 Selections
Galaxy Best: Rippin’ Sam to WIN ($2.35)
Value: Myrniong Corner EACH WAY ($15/$3.20)
Exotic: Box Trifecta 1, 4, 8 ($20 for 333.33%)

Rippin’ Sam is the benchmark for stayers in the country at the moment and after clocking the fastest heat win here last week will be hard to beat. The concern may be the box having not won from two tries in the blue rug previously and being a slow beginner could possibly be back in traffic early. The Wolf thinks he is good enough to overcome the draw and if he gets clear running will be simply too good. For those looking for value Myrniong Corner looks an outstanding chance at good odds from the cherry. He did get tired late last week but from the more favourable draw should give a bold sight up on the pace. Quick Jagger is a classy Dog who broke through for an overdue win last week running slick time. He has a big motor and if able to find the front down the back straight will take plenty of catching.

Perth Cup

Cannington Race 7 Selections
Perth Cup Best: Up Hill Jill to WIN ($3.40)
Exotic: Quinella 4, 8 ($20 for 2000%)
Exotic: Trifecta 4, 8/ 3, 8/ 2 ($20 for 1000%)

The old sparring partners Up Hill Jill and Striker Light will go at it yet again for Group 1 glory this Saturday. For the record in thirteen clashes Up Hill Jill holds a slight edge seven to six and the Wolf believes this years Egg champion can add the 2018 Perth Cup to her resume here. This champion Bitch looked great last week winning in a slick 29.60 seconds and is adept from all boxes due to her great early speed. The local star West On Augie actually clocked the fastest time last week stopping the clock in a blistering 29.55 seconds. He has great early speed but may not be able to cross on to the bunny as easily as he has done in recent runs with so much speed drawn to his inside but is a leading hope and must be respected. It is impossible to leave out Striker Light who is just so classy and bound to be in the mix somewhere.
