The Wolf’s runner by runner analysis of the Group 1 Winter Cup at Albion Park to be run Thursday night.
1.Cyndie’s Magic ($13)
Slow beginner who has been racing well over the longer trips of late. Is well drawn from the rails draw where she ran an impressive 2nd in last week’s heat and if there is any trouble she will prove hard to hold out. Is all class and is a great each-way chance.
2. Vegas Bound ($34)
Another slow beginner drawn near the rails and better form is over the longer distances. Ran okay here last week but was beaten a long way. Doesn’t win out of turn but hasn’t been out of a place here at the track and distance. Going well but lacks the class of some of these.
3. Outside Pass ($8)
Starting to build an impressive record with 11 wins in 25 attempts. Will have to begin sharply tonight to take advantage of the two slow beginners drawn on her inside and if she is successful in leading them at the turn she would be hard to hold out. Ran a best here of 29.76 here two weeks ago and will likely to run up to that tonight.
4. Zambora Brockie ($2)
The Wolf thinks that Zambora Brockie is a real threat in tonight’s final. Has won his last five starts and has won 21 from 34 starts plus unbeaten at to tries at the track and distance both in very quick times. Never gave anything else a chance in last weeks heat win and is a huge chance of Group One win number two.
5. Master Jackpot ($13)
Not without a roughie’s hope here after last couple of runs. Is a kennelmate of the favourite and would be no surprise to see him feature in the finish. Not well boxed tonight but with a good start he can certainly be thereabouts when it counts. Place chance.
6. Thirty Talks ($8)
Very slow to begin last week but mustered enough pace to be in the first two on the turn and was too strong for a fast finishing Cyndie’s Magic. With a better getaway tonight he will take a power of beating. Has 14 wins from 18 starts and is the obvious danger to favourite Zambora Brockie. Excellent value.
7. Split Image ($17)
From the powerful Tony Brett kennel. That alone gives her a knockout chance. Was run down by the fast finishing Blazin Bomber in the heat in a slick 29.71. She has brilliant early speed and must lead to have a chance of holding out some very strong greyhounds. Each way.
8. Blazin Bomber ($4)
Slow beginner who has been racing against some of the best going around and performing quite admirably. Well boxed out wide where The Wolf expects him to be rounding them up on the back straight and will be very hard to hold out. Has a best here of 29.71 and a repeat here would suggest he will be in the top three.
9. Abby’s Magic ($51)
Has been racing consistently of late without winning albeit against some strong opposition which is no different tonight. Last win was four months ago though and will need all the breaks to go her way if she were to get a run.
10. Cheeky Chance ($51)
Another roughie here who would be struggling to get anywhere near these on best form. Would need to improve out of sight and would have to do a Steven Bradbury if he was to earn a start. No thanks.
