|Top Bowler Pakistan||Junaid Khan ($4.50)|
Pakistan was outclassed by India in the most comprehensive manner in their opening game and will have to do something drastic to turn their fortunes around against quite possibly the best-rounded side in the tournament.
South Africa started off confidently against Sri Lanka and even though their batting effort was a touch defensive, their bowling stood up to the challenge very well.
In players like AB De Villiers, Hashim Amla, Quinton de Kock and Imran Tahir, South Africa is blessed with some of the most talented players in the world. On paper, there is a wide gulf between the two teams and South Africa with the Proteas having won 4 out of their last 5 ODI series.
Pakistan, on the other hand, has struggled away from and in particular against South Africa winning only 2 of the last 10 games they have played against each other.
Everything seems to point to a South African victory, but there are always some markets to be exploited and the Wolf will lay them out for you.
Players to Watch out for:
Hashim Amla is often regarded as one of the best Test players in the world but the fact that he is one of the all-time greats in ODI cricket is overlooked. He started off with an elegant 103 in the first match, his 25th hundred and is in imperious form.
He also managed to score a couple of hundreds in the IPL. Adding another big score to his name should not be counted out. He, along with Faf Du Plessis (75 in the first game and the knock that changed momentum) are the two players on the Wolf’s radar for this match.
For Pakistan, picking a top batsman is difficult but hopefully they would have learned from the previous game and will make some changes. The Wolf thinks Haris Sohail will make an entry into the team in place of Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik will bat further up the order. Malik was the only one who looked like scoring any runs from Pakistan in the last match and was on 15 of 8 deliveries (with 2 boundaries and a six) before being run out unfortunately.
Malik is the Wolf’s pick to be the top batsman in this match.
The South African bowling was a little caught out when the Sri Lankan batsman starting going at them with aggression and only when they introduced Imran Tahir were they able to exert some pressure. Against Pakistan, Tahir may have a tougher time picking wickets as compared to Sri Lanka and the Wolf is backing Chris Morris to be the top bowler in this match.
Pakistan put in a shoddy performance with the ball last time around but injuries will force changes to be made. Junaid Khan, who picked up 4 wickets in the warm-up game will probably get a game, while Shadab Khan should be able to keep his spot.
The Wolf is confident Junaid will make an immediate impact and thinks he can be the top bowler for Pakistan in this match.
Pitch and Conditions
The pitches have been flat without anything in them for the bowlers while the conditions have been overcast all throughout. Luckily, the weather forecast seems to be improving and a full match is expected to be played even though a few interruptions may be there.
South Africa to Win.
