Racing and Sports Tips – 9/1/18

bet on racing and sports

Here are The Wolf’s best racing and sports tips!

The Wolf’s best bet looks well placed to go one better at Mackay today.

Mackay Thoroughbred Bet (5:05pm)

Jervois Night (Race 7, No.6) ran an excellent race at this track first up and looks well placed to go one better today.

Trained locally by Olivia Cairns, he is particularly well in under the set weight conditions of this race and this reflects that he has plenty of class on his rivals.

He is effective ridden forward or back so if Ashley Butler has the slightest bit of luck from the wide draw, he will take a power of beating.

Confidence Level:

Recommended Price: $3.40

Yarra Valley Thoroughbred Bet (4:30pm)

Tradies Tea Break (Race 9, No.1) has been working up to a win and gets the perfect opportunity to break through here.

He should be at peak fitness today at his fourth run from a spell, and he has been a model of consistency so far this campaign, having finished no further back than fourth and getting beaten less than two lengths each run.

Although it is still BM58 grade, this race looks considerably weaker than his last at Echuca and he is nicely in after the claim for Stephen Brown Jr.

Confidence Level:

Recommended Price: $4.40

College Football National Championship: Alabama v Georgia (12:45pm AEDT)

The fourth-seeded Crimson Tide produced a strong defensive effort in the Sugar Bowl to knock out No.1 seed Clemson by 24-6 and will be looking to shutdown the running game of the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs had 317 rushing yards in their thrilling 54-48 double-overtime win in the Rose Bowl over the Oklahoma Sooners.

Running backs Sony Michel (11 carries, 181 yards, 3 TDs) and Nick Chubb (14 carries, 145 yards, 2 TDs) shredded the Sooners’ defence and will be looking to find holes in the Bama defence.

The Crimson Tide limited the Tigers running back to just 64 rushing yards from 33 carries.

The Bulldogs will definitely present a greater challenge.

The Bulldogs will also have the advantage of the game being played in Georgia, while their coach Kirby Smart was the former defensive coordinator of the Crimson Tide.

Georgia is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall, while Alabama is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 conference games.

The Wolf is sticking with the underdogs here.

The loss of Jennings is a massive blow for Alabama, while the running back duo of Michel and Chubb will look to tire out the Bama defence by moving the chains and keeping them on the field.

The +3.5 start for the Bulldogs is the way to play this one in what should be a tight National Championship game.

Horsham Greyhound Bet (6:04pm AEDT)

Powerful Lomar (Race 7, No.8) won here three starts back and is coming off a last start win at Ballarat.

Four of his seven wins have come from Box 8, so he is bound to relish tonight’s draw.

He’s flying and The Wolf has to stick with him in this purple patch of form.

Confidence Level:

Recommended Price: $2.40
