Racing and Sports Tips – 8/6/18

bet on racing and sports

Here are The Wolf’s best racing and sports tips!

The Wolf’s best bet is out of the Patrick Payne stable and looks hard to beat at Swan Hill today.

Swan Hill Thoroughbred Bet (1:50pm AEST)

Street Sheik (Race 3, No.4) has been competitive in city class races and should be even more competitive in this.

He’s trialled in preparation for this and off that run looks ready to fire.

Billy Egan takes the reins for trainer Patrick Payne and from the draw he expected to drift back to the rear of the field.

He runs his best races when fresh and should do exactly that here.

Confidence Level:

Recommended Price: $1.90

Swan Hill Thoroughbred Bet (2:50pm AEST)

Skilled Assassin (Race 5, No.13) has refused to win on a number of occasions but he gets an excellent chance once again to record a well deserved win.

He placed second last start at Mildura over 2000m and should be much improved for this stepping out to 2100m.

This is a tougher assignment but although he hasn’t won, he’s shown plenty of ability and The Wolf is confident that he will be competitive here for this.

Confidence Level:

Recommended Price: $4.80

NRL: Canberra v Penrith (6pm AEST)

It’s always tough to predict how these matches will play out without knowing which players will back up after State of Origin 1 on Wednesday night.

The Wolf is leaning towards the Under 39.5 points as the best play here.

The Raiders are 14-8 under at home at night, while the Panthers boast the best defence in the league.

There’s also the chance that the Panthers attack will be quite disjointed this week, with their halves pairing of James Maloney and Nathan Cleary  not training with the side in the lead-up to the clash against the Raiders due to Origin.

Throw in the 90% chance of rain as well, and all signs point to a low-scoring affair in the nation’s capital.

Confidence Level:

Recommended Price: $1.91

Traralgon Greyhound Bet (9:34pm AEST)

Canya Wilber (Race 9, No.5) has two wins and two minor placings over this track/distance and looks hard to beat tonight.

Five of his seven wins have come from Boxes 4-6, so Box 5 won’t be an issue here.

He owns a personal best time of 17.99 here and has the class edge here.

Confidence Level:

Recommended Price: $2.20
