Racing and Sports Tips – 24/1/18

bet on racing and sports

Here are The Wolf’s best racing and sports tips!

The Wolf’s best bet resumes at Hawkesbury today and should be able to dictate terms from out in front.

Hawkesbury Thoroughbred Bet (2:15pm)

Commanding Witness (Race 2, No.2) has trialled three times in readiness for this and should be hard to beat first up.

Expect he’ll fly out to lead from the draw as he previously has, and linking up with a prolific front running jockey in Katelyn Mallyon enhances his chances.

His form around Assimilate and Dracarys reads well for this and The Wolf is confident he’ll be going home the winner.

Confidence Level:

Recommended Price: $2.65

Ballarat Thoroughbred Bet (7:30pm)

Euroman (Race 7, No.9) is fourth up from the Darren Weir stable who looks ready to win stepping up to 2200m.

He’s a winner over this distance earlier in his career at Geelong, and with the fitness he’ll have taken from his first three runs this prep, The Wolf is expecting he’ll be set to peak fourth up for this.

Dean Yendall takes the reins who has won on him before and The Wolf is expecting this son of Manduro to get the job done here.

Confidence Level:

Recommended Price: $3.90

Australian Open: Tomas Berdych v Roger Federer

At one stage this H2H stood at 11-6 in Federer’s favour but 8 straight wins to the Swiss maestro now means it reads 19-6.

The reigning champion has completely dominated this matchup over the last 5 years – winning 19 of the last 21 sets contested including three straight set wins at Grand Slam level.

Their 3rd round match a year ago officially stamped the return of Roger in what was a absolute masterclass.

He slapped 40 winners and won 95% of 1st serve points!

There is no surprise element with Roger this time around and The Wolf feels that will help Berdych.

Despite not dropping a set Federer has looked below his best and he will have to elevate his level to get past Tomas.

One of the heaviest hitters on tour, Berdych has gone down the line with his backhand more regularly in this tournament and The Wolf says he will have to do it even more often if he is to end his losing streak against Federer.

Federer has been a bit sloppy in his return games and we have seen the likes of Struff and Fucsovics force him into tiebreakers.

Grand Slam titles don’t come easily and this will be no exception for Federer this time around.

Take Berdych with the +5.5 handicap.

Recommended Price: $1.85

Cranbourne Greyhound Bet (9:27pm AEDT)

Sunlit Johnny (Race 9, No.6) has made a powerful start to his career, winning his first two starts and finishing second by a short margin last start.

He sizzles from the boxes and should avoid early trouble out of Box 6.

Looks a smart type on the rise and will be tough to beat tonight.

Confidence Level:

Recommended Price: $2.80
