The Rangers picked up the victory on Wednesday with two former Brewers doing most of the damage. Carlos Gomez jacked a three run homer while Jonathan Lucroy hit an important two run double to put Milwaukee away.
Texas need to keep winning if they are to secure home field advantage in the playoffs, sitting a half game ahead of Boston and 1.5 in front of Cleveland. They will send Cole Hamels (15-5, 3.30 ERA) to the mound and he’s coming off a 3-0 victory that clinched the AL West. He posted six hits over seven scoreless innings and looked very impressive in doing so. He’s had some decent success against Milwaukee in the past, owning a 7-3 record while keeping the bats to just .240 batting average. In the 31 games Hamels has started this season, 24 of them have seen him give up 3 earned runs or less. The Wolf has confidence that he can keep the Brewers off the board and let the bullpen clean it up.
