Obsidian (Race 2, No.2) found the trip too short last start.
The Wolf really fancied this import’s chances last start but he ran like a horse desperate for more ground. Gets that here out to 1900m. No disrespect to his most recent riders Koby Jennings and Rory Hutchings, but the engagement of Hugh Bowman is another massive plus.
Signposted trotted in at Hawkesbury last start but this is significantly harder. This is the day for Obsidian.
The Wolf thought it about time he finally gave the Minnesota Twinssome love after being on the wrong end of many tips this season.
The Twins have played a heck of a lot better in July, winning 12 of their 20 games this month, despite their bullpen making it harder than it needs to be. Atlanta has lost five in a row and was just swept by the Rockies in four games, outscored 26-12 in the process. Ervin Santana (3-8, 3.93 ERA) takes the ball for the Twins and while he started the season quite rough, he’s slowly turned it around and has allowed two runs or fewer in five of his last six starts.
There likely won’t be many runs on offer in this one so the under might be worth a second look as well.
