High Mist(Race 6, No.3) is a colt on a steep upward spiral.
This son of High Chaparral always gave the impression he’d train on as a three-year-old. He was luckless behind Swear first-up (who lines up here too) before being served up an easy kill at Warwick Farm, albeit against older horses. Back to his own age here in the G3 Gloaming Stakes and out to 1800m looks an ideal recipe for him to record back-to-back wins.
Loses Hugh Bowman, who was actually suspended on this very horse last start, but Glyn Schofield should be able to get him home. Prized Icon looms as the danger but he has to bounce back from a disastrous Chelmsford Stakes finish.
The Storm hit under at a ridiculously high rate at home on the back of a strong defensive performance and they know it is defence that wins premierships. Finals unders are always a play.
Canberra have had a truly incredible season but it is hard to see it extending further than this Saturday night. Melbourne are just relentless and look lengths ahead of any of the remaining teams. They are so difficult to break down and in their current mindset and with their current energy they are just too strong. Off a break only adds to the confidence.
