Furnaces (Race 5, No.2) is brilliant on his day and his trials have been exceptional.
This four-year-old has won three of his nine starts but The Wolf thinks Godolphin have him going better than ever. He has trialled twice before his resumption and gave most of his rivals windburn. He actually ran in the McEwen last year as a three-year-old and although he ran third, he finished behind Chautauqua and Flamberge!
He has drawn perfectly in barrier 3, giving Craig Williams to take up the running or ease back to box seat behind the pace. Heatherly is a very smart mare but the wide barrier poses plenty of problems for her.
He should be crossed early which will give him the perfect run behind the leader and he will have plenty of time to out sprint those in front of him. On sectionals he is the one to beat and we should get a price with a short-priced favourite engaged.
People must really be buying into the hype of Jack Sock as The Wolf says Marin Cilic should be closer to $1.20 and has him rated as a genuine chance to win a second US Open title. Cilic to win 3-0.
He has been in scintillating form and is on a 8 match win streak. He played flawless tennis last week in Cincinnati taking down Troicki, Verdasco, Berdych, Coric, Dimitrov and Murray en route to the title. Sock crushed Zverev in his last match but will not be afforded the same opportunity against Cilic. He was able to dominate from the back of the court – something that will not be as easy to accomplish against Cilic.
